I just went to check my egold account. I started only checking it in opera as I thought that was slightly safer than IE. I have run avg and spybot yesterday but not today.

So I logged into my webmail ready to get the pin # - not hotmail. Went to e-gold.com by typing in the address bar, it had https in there, typed in the turing number and then put in the password using the srk.

By the time I had done that I went over to the web mail window and there was already a mail from do not reply egold sayign accent pin details.

I hadnt even put the password in when that was sent and the account number in the email wasnt my account number.

What has happened adn what do I do now?

I am scanning with avg now and will follow with spybot and adaware.

I am really freaked out by this and scared to go into my egold account if no trojans come up in the scans...

I think it must have been something on their end... doesnt look like a phishing mail

Was weird though, says one egold number in one place and another number in another place and totally freaky dates and times that are nothing like todays even though it arrived today.

Explanation:

The security settings on e-gold account 139*42* require new PIN entry
when a change in computer and/or location is detected.

If you did not attempt to login to e-gold account 129*58* at
9/6/04 2:46:01 PM GMT, this suggests that somebody besides you knows the
passphrase to your e-gold account due to poor security practices on
your part! In that case you should immediately take the following
steps in the following order:

I've edited the numbers a bit, but you can see what I mean. None of those numbers is anything like my egold account number and they ip isnt one that looks like the ones I am usually assigned either. The date on there is 6/9 (english) and it's 31/10 here, it says pm but it's actually am here!

The scans came up safe so I think it was a panic over nothing smile.gif
Qadeer
are u sure it is your IP address?
wagdoll
That ip starts with 61 and mine starts with 81

But neither of the egold numbers in there is mine either

I sent that email to egold (or a similar one) they sent a reply back - its just someone phishing for egold logins. That it happened during or right before/after a session with egold is coincidental.

Just reinforces the reason you should NEVER login to any payment service from a link sent in an email.
wagdoll
There wasnt a login link on it though? There arent any clickable links in the mail. No attachment on it either.

Oh well, my scans came up clear, I take all the precautions like not clicking links in emails, I use opera and type in the url instead of using a bookmark, I use the srk, dont use that password anywhere else, have the accsent turned on, dont keep much in there and run scans before I log in. Not much else you can do except not use it lol.
