I've been thinking about this for quite a while, but I just didn't know if I wanted to post or not for fear of being flamed, but my mind got the best of me so here goes......

To me, this "exposure" should have never been put on a public forum until the "hacker" was proved 100%. I don't know what kind of laws they have in NZ, but here, in the USA, people are supposed to be given a fair trial before being convicted. Isn't that one of our rights as an American? I have seen that the laws of the internet do not work the same way.

I can't believe all of the people that shoot before asking questions!! Regardless of what this "kid" did in the past, this was still handled the wrong way. This person was judged and convicted before he ever had a chance at a "trial".

Now look at what's going on!! People have called this kid's home and I've seen people asking for his address so they could go and pay him a visit, quit his programs, and Lord only knows what else! And guess what?? It may not have been him all along!!

For some reason, I can clearly see shadowman sitting at his PC going off his rocker because of all of this. That, in itself, makes me giggle, but he would have been the first one to come to this kid's defense. I remember him saying about how people were going about catching this hacker was like a witch hunt, and you know, he was right! But you may have caught the wrong witch!

I agreed that I would have loved to destroy this hacker even though I was not directly affected by it. I was not a member of any of the programs that were hacked, I was only affected by the pain that I was feeling a long with these program owners.

But, now what? What has this public flogging accomplished?? Well, to start with, Thane's PTR's may have been destroyed, and his reputation, although I have seen where he had a bad one to start with, but he was trying to get back on track. Now what can be done if it turns out not to be him?

"Oh, sorry about that!"???
"Sorry that all of your programs have been destroyed by this bad publicity."??
"Sorry I violated your right to privacy."??

Maybe I'm wrong for caring, I don't know, but I couldn't let my conscience go on this one......

I fully agree. I don't know whether he will turn out to be the real hacker or not, you never know. But I think the whole thing came out a bit prematurely.

Robyn...well said.....Thane, I think may have been set up.....but it may well be him.....we just do NOT know yet.......but lots and LOTS of people have already hung him.......which is a shame...here in Australia, we too have the "innocent until proven guilty"........so it is very unjust.....I myself, believe it to be someone else.....I will not say the persons name.......As I would be a hypocrite......

I say we should all just wait and see....I had a feeling it was not Thane......and am sticking to it for now.

I too have my doubts and like moonieb have someone else in mind, at least as a co-conspirator. But with no proof (and the fact I'd be tarred & feathered for even suspecting this person) one can only take a wait and see attitude and hope the whole truth becomes known.

I am going to e-mail John, and give him some idea that this William Bowen may have purposely gave false information about where he lives.

I agree Robyn. While the acts were heinous, so was the behavior of those who out and out castigated someone before all of the facts were known.

It's sad to see our community act like this. Wouldn't it be nice to see posts that are relevant, not personal attacks, and factual before the conspiracy theorists launched their campaigns?

I still think that sometimes with this PTR world that a visit to this website is in order once in a while.
