Is it really necessary to post that image here, it is very disturbing and offensive.

Hi,

I'm not sure how that pictures is offensive; I do see how it is distrubing. I hope you took a minute to click on the banner to see how many children were killed. Hopefully, it is disturbing enough that people will reach out to help the people involved.

The picture may not be offensive to you, but it is to me and may be to others. A picture of a young child, who has blood all over his body, should not be posted in the general section of a ptr forum, imo.

It could be disturbing but it's not offensive at all!

Offensive are all people who close their eyes and ears front of similar situations.

This is not offensive, this is the world where we're living unfortunately and I find more offensive to be forced to see half-naked women everywhere even at Olympic Games where Beach Volley girls have been obliged to wear microscopic bikinis by the organization team mad.gif

Suffering people can be shocking, sad, harrowing but NEVER OFFENSIVE!! dry.gif

That may be your opinion, but it is not mine. Seeing a picture of a young child, with blood all over being posted all over the internet in order to raise money is offensive. I realise it is for a good cause, something very terrible happened, and my prayers go out to all the families affected. But I know if I was the parent of that child, I would not want it posted all over the internet for everyone to see, that is someone's child! And besides, I didn't think nice images like that were allowed to be posted in this forum, my mistake.
Tatirog
My apologies for those offended by images. I assume they also switch off TV when news is on or close their eyes so they don't get disturbed.

But imagine for one second it was YOUR child killed at school. Terrorists knew perfectly what they were targeting. For those who doesn't know why 1 September was choosen it's the first day of new school year and it's a celebration day.

Children come to school with parents to meet their teachers and fmates after long summer vacation. That explains why so many infants and toddlers were there as well as parents and grandparents. Terrorists only agreed to free 26 of them (women with kids under 2 years). The rest remained hostages.

As of now, media reports indicate at least 335 victims, mostly children, who already died as a direct result of this terror act. Over 700 victims, also mostly children, have been taken to local hospitals, a large number of them with very serious injuries.

Sorry again for posting such disturbing information.

These images are ALREADY all over the web, just open any official or unofficial site talking about that tragedy!!

These are Reuters' pictures not images stolen by some paparazzo seeking for a scandalmongering scoop.

This forum is full of vulgarities, threats and offensive messages and this is one of few times someone tries to use it for other purposes like raising funds for people in need (i.e. Florida's people and Beslan families)
GPF born to talk about Paid-to... progs and in effect we're USING our Paid-to progs to help other, I don't think this is so out of topic!

Disturbing? Of course. Offensive? Perhaps. Shouldn't they be? People are killed everyday no matter who/what/where/why they are all over the globe. Truer yet, we have become so desensitized that it takes something like these photos to give us all a big kick in the boot, take a step back and say no, this isn't right, how can I help. That COULD be your child, that's the point, at least that's what I got out of it. I was born in Canada, have lived in South America, Africa, Europe, and have finally landed here in the US to raise my children, and of course at some point want to do the full circle and move back home to Canada. Geography is of little importance. Today my kids are tucked snug in their beds and safe...not wanting to start school tomorrow. I can't say that tomorrow will offer them the same comforts, I don't think anyone can. To reach out in any way, be it a forum like this one, a newscast, an article in the local paper, isn't criminal, it's mandatory if we have any chance of peace anywhere in the future. These are children without political agenda, country affiliations or otherwise, they were probably just kids that really didn't want to start school either. I hardly think we can afford the luxury of being offended and looking away. I think we should instead be offended and screaming-at the top of our lungs-this has to stop now. True enough, if might not help matters, but like I said, I have kids. I wouldn't have stopped for a minute had I seen the banner and NOT been both disturbed and offended. I did and I was. I hope I can help a *tiny* bit is all I can say, and thank you for putting my night in perspective.

Again, just me (albeit Canadian raised peace loving, violence solving nothing, not ever) opinion.

Thanks again (&again smile.gif )

Yes...the images are offensive

Yes...they shouldnt be for public consumption;

I think its scandalous that you're using the picture of dead children to solicit donations. As a human being, I dont need to be shown the end results of terrorism to know that its humankind at its worst.

You don't think that a banner that is more informational wouldnt be a better choice, or do you get better results by resorting to Madison Ave advertising?

Edited to add: Thank you again ClarkBarton, I tried it but I decided to change it back after re-thinking. You can read another discussion (actually it's a complaint in mods folder) about it here:

Now we all have a different banner to choose based on personal sensitiveness and "liking"....

Hope all that interesting discussions about banners, pictures and so on have at least brought some benefit and some more click on search and donation links. smile.gif

btw, this site is always updated

http://www.moscowhelp.org

and now they provide also a printable leaflet you can print and post in PUBLIC places

From moscowhelp site:
QUOTE
FLYER WITH AN APPEAL FOR DONATIONS
Please print and post in supermarkets, schools, churches, etc

oh, forgot, do not open if you are disturbed by suffering children images.

Added just to avoid misunderstandings: I've found this site using google, I'm not involved in the site graphic creation, I've simply found it, MADE A DONATION and spread the word....

Sorry if I will seem polemic, but evidently their "offending" methods work seen they have raised over 322,900$ in 3 days!
