I have a member who wants a flash banner for pay-2-click and banner rotation. I have seem this exact same banner on other sites but I just can't get it to work on mine! If any MEC site owners know how to get it to work...PLEASE let me in on the trick!

Thanks!

No...I have a member with a flash banner. I need help installing it in my banner rotator and on the paid-2-click page

If they provide the complete code all you have to do is just copy/paste it into they html field and it should work. If they only provide the flash banner itself it won't work.

It should be formatted like this:

CODE
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=4,0,2,0" width="468" height="60">
 <param name=movie value="http://mysite.com/ads/flashad.swf?clickTAG=http://myadnetwork.com/tracking?http://www.destinationURL.com&target=_top">
 <param name=quality value=high>
 <param name=menu value=false>
 <embed src="http://mysite.com/ads/flashad.swf?clickTAG=http://myadnetwork.com/tracking?http://www.destinationURL.com&target=_top" quality=high pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="468" height="60" menu="false">
 </embed>

I've got the complete code...it works fine if I just put it on a page somewhere. It just will not work in the banner rotator or paid-2-click page. All that loads is the background. He told me yesterday one of the other sites where he has this banner up and working, but it is one of the new style CAC sites, not the MEC scripts.

If the banner has no sound or interactivity, think around
transform it to an animated gif with a flash editor. It's
no much difficult.
aj.gif not sure ab.gif
tatgirl2
Now there's an idea....but now, where to get a flash editor? hmmmmmm.....
djtimor
macromedia.com maybe? LOL ab.gif

OK it's a so much expensive software or to much big to
download easy, just to do a single small task like this.
So if you want to try this way just send me a copy of
the banner to me and i will send you back gif converted.
Ian
A flash animation converted to a gif generally creates a HUGE file. Don't do it.

I've never seen the banner rotation code at a MEC site but have you tried entering the flash code without any carriage returns (line breaks). Might help.
tatgirl2
Ian,
With the combination of your suggestion and putting the darn file in the right directory (I'm a DUH!) it now WORKS! I have a happy member so I am happy too! Thanks!

Around 130 Kb for a gif banner like the red one.
It loads in about 15 seconds in a 56 dial up
connection.
But the best way is left it as a flash... if it
works. ao.gif
Ian
130k? That will only load in 15 seconds if there's nothing else downloading (i.e. the rest of the page) and your modem has had some kind of digital meth-amphetamines. :-)

You're looking at closer to 30 seconds... Maybe one in 20 people will stay on the same page (especially the index page) for 30 seconds.
petcalent
You are right. Put the flash and you'll get the people
trapped 45 seconds or more in your page...

...pulsing all the buttons of their mouse
trying to stop that annoying banner. After that they go
to never cameback.ab.gif

I'm really nothing against flash banners but against that
most popular every day fullscreen pages in flash without a
skip button.
Flash is good for banners, some buttons, and games, but
is too bad for pseudoartistic fullpages when you're surfing
without a indianapolis connection.
