That's right, I have caught this guy spamming, he tried to make it look like he went through my contact page, WRONG, I have security and identification tags which also get sent through with any email that comes through on my contact page. I am in contact with Cynthia about this to find out how he bypassed them and I am in the process of checking my logs.

message_type: Be prepared, the new standard in the Get Paid industry has arrived!

All current CashCrusader users: recieve 50% (!) discount when you convert to Create Your GetPaid now!
That's right, this is the moment to take action and take your site to the next level.

With the release of version 7 of Create Your GetPaid we rewrote the complete code to take everything one big leap forward.
More control, enhanced functions, better handling and fine-tuned database functionality.

Let us give you some examples to compare with the options you are used to with your current script:

-Create Your GetPaid introduces a completely new feature for GetPaid programs: the extensible referral link.
When you have real downline builders in your program, they would love to see where most referrals came from. From which promotion, from which website etc. They can now with the extensible referral link.

-Create Your GetPaid's e-mail manager supports an easy, user friendly WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor.

-All tables now have both ascending and descending sorting, table columns can now be added and/or removed, the contents of the table can be exported to a SQL, CSV or (tab delimited) plain text file, it's possible to use multiple advanced search functions.
Mass-selection can be used (for example to validate a large group of paid signups at once) and much more!

-Keep your current design and lay-out!

-Complete countries/regions database for both members and advertisers. When someone selects a country, Create Your GetPaid will automatically display the region (states or provinces) that belong to the selected country.

-Improved error handling

-We introduce an advanced new FAQ system. It can display the most frequently asked questions, questions sorted by category and has an advanced search function (boolean mode) with support for search-operators.

-Enhanced webiste statistics like hourly statistics to keep track of the peaks in the amount of visitors to your site.

-All generated backups are fully compatible with phpMyAdmin. So if you site is offline, you can always restore the backups in phpMyAdmin (or a sortlike program). Because of the big size of the backups for some programs, it does now also support GZip compression (if your server supports this). This can bring the size of a 150MB database back to 20MB! If you want to store your database backups on another server, you can also let Create Your GetPaid upload it to any FTP server you want.

The complete billing system has been rewritten and replaced with an advanced invoice system, which supports both single payments and recurrent billing. An invoice can now also contain multiple orders and order quantities. When invoices are unpaid after 14 days, it will automatically resend the invoice. When invoices are still unpaid after 28 days, it will be automatically deleted.

On top of all that, Create Your GetPaid's advertiser "shop" comes with a full-featured shopping cart system and dynamical check-out page. When products are added to the shopping cart, the ad information for that product type can be directly entered for later use in the new "pending ads" page in the administration.
Advertiser accounts have been seperated from the member accounts.

Finally, why buy all sorts of plug-ins when you can buy them in one buy while they are all included in the Create Your GetPaid script itself? The choice is yours.

You will receive 50% (!) discount on your total order including installation, conversion and add-ons (when ordered).
This is a limited time offer which you almost can't refuse.

At the same time I am also reporting this to his host. Honestly I dont find it to be anyone else to be spamming his site like this but the owner of his site. I dont mind if someone emails and approaches me honestly, but when they pull a stunt like this, no, sorry, that doesnt wash. It shows dishonesty on their behalf with such actions.

Hello,

I got the same email. I think he sent it to all PTR WM with the CC script.

Brent

I received the same eMail on both of my sites as well. Let me know what happens, please.

Thanks.

Hello,

Brent

He spammed it from his own servers using Gecko.

207.44.248.23 - - [08/Jul/2004:14:47:08 -0500] "POST /pages/contact.php HTTP/1.1" 200 12281 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021204"

This is how he bypassed any tags I have on my contact page. I am also passing this thread onto admin, but this thread I would also like to have kept here since it is a complaint against a PTR industry site and not fully related to the forum.
Zombie Master
Also, if you wish to complain about this guy spamming, send reports to these two email addresses:

abuse(at)ev1.net and abuse(at)savvis.net

I also ask if any other WMs received this email, can you please post it up on here, include the headers. I'm suspecting he has mass spammed it and if he has then he will be in all sorts of trouble. I have also reported him to the FTC

Ok, dont need any more WMs to post their emails, think we have enough laugh.gif
ofertasespeciais
Im also owner of CC script and received the same email. Great you sent it to abuse and its a strange way to bring customers...
Zombie Master
It is a strange way... This sort of thing you dont do when running a business, quickest way of infact loosing customers.

When talking about spam, they would have been sent automatically in a large amount to many e-mail addresses, but we do understand why many consider this as spam.

heh...

Sorry, you did not physically go through my contact pages.

1. I currently have the subject line in the body of the message, not in the actual email subject line. It was wrong when I took the sites and I never changed it. This is why I had deleted the message at one of my sites before reading this thread-- I knew it couldn't have come from my contact page, so I considered it spam and possibly a virus. I guess I was right on one count.

2. On one site: the subject line has several choices... you cannot write your own. rolleyes.gif

3. I also have other security measures that you could not have bypassed... even if you "skipped" them, they would have shown up blank in the email I got, but the category would still be there.

There's probably other reasons, but the three listed above seem good enough for me. smile.gif

I cannot believe that you stooped that low to try to get more customers.
I was actually thinking of looking into your scripts, just to see what they offered, but I ain't even gonna do THAT now.

Shade... pure shade.

It was sent through the contact form, only not by myself, but by a script so I didn't have to enter every form one by one.

so... the script altered the hard coding in my contact page form?

Well, he's realising his mistake now. Then he tries and says we are ruining him. He did it himself the moment he started contacting CC site owners.

Ofcourse I'm realising my mistake now, and I do know I'm the one that did this, not you. But I just think sending all these spam complaints isn't really the way to solve this, unless you want to get rid of me once and for all.

1. I didn't ask that for the code... I asked that to make you admit to it.

Sorry, his spam did NOT comply to FTC regulations in reguards to CAN-SPAM.

He bypassed the contact pages, you can see that within my own post where it has POST within the log file shows that.

It doesnt matter if he sent it once or twice or even more, it's how he sent it.

krazynomad: It doesnt matter if you sent it through the contact page. ALL UCE like that HAS to come DIRECTLY from your server, it has to show YOUR IP, you have hidden it by POST'ing directly to the contact forms. The fact that you had a bot do it makes it a mass emailing and therefore against the laws created by CAN-SPAM.

You cant blame us for your mistake, not this time.

You brought this onto yourself, no one else. You sell a PTR script, you have read enough on GPF to know that sending someone emails massly can and is classified as spam unless the person has ways of opting out. You have probably read enough on here in reguards to CAN-SPAM, yes I say it doesnt apply to PTR sites due to PTR sites being double optin to start with, but what you did was spam, doesnt matter if it came through the contact page from a macro you created, or directly to the support email address.

As I said, I just wanted you to admit it... I knew it was possible...
BUT... you STILL never actually went through my contact page... sorry.
A script did.
Please stop saying you went through the contact pages 'cuz you wrote a program that went through them... you never did.

Just so you know..
I didn't report you as spam...
Heck... I'd be here 48 hours a day if I reported all of the SPAM I get.
But if you send messages like that, you really should send an opt-out contact email and/or a physical opt-out address if you're in the States...

There is no note in that message that it is a one-time message and/or where I can opt-out.
I never signed up for a mailing list and I sure as *heck* never asked you to contact me by mass-contact-page-altering-script-mailing (laugh.gif talk about a mouthful).

I read other posts so problem is that mesage wasnt manually entered in contact form but where was used some script to automaticaly enter it and submit form. So no using contact form = spam ... hmm, if its the only problem ... never thought about it ... Secret Squirrel, actually I don't come on GPF very often, just once a week at most, mainly for topics about cygp. I also now understand that what I did was wrong. When I knew that before I did this, ofcourse I wouldn't have done it, never!

I did use a script to fill-out contact form, which was also wrong, I'm not afraid to admit what I did, but the only thing is that I didn't knew that this was not possible. The way to opt-out, well, you weren't really opt-in at first. So if you wouldn't want to receive it anymore, you could just send an email back telling me and I wouldn't. Also it was stupid that i didn't note that in the message itself.

I think I learned my lesson now and you can trust me that I won't do this again, NEVER!

Sending questions to the support@ and advertising@ addresses wouldnt be spam because those are the addresses the contact and advertising page forms goto, unless the WM of the site changes them due to spamming issues.

bquestion_type: Special offer for britspaidemail.com

message_type: Be prepared, the new standard in the Get Paid industry has arrived!

Your personal coupon ID to receive the 50% discount on an owned license is #67843491

I can understand why so many POs dont like a way how krazynomad sent this email.
I see why you like contact forms, most of members use it. If someone send email and dont show username or show username, its extra work for you to check IP in database and find if email isnt fake. And if contact form is submited using script, it show server IP so no way to check who actually sent it...

It was only an offer. If you don't want it, that's ok. We will not send you

CreateYourGetPaid.com

I said it was still spam and I was notifying CC

Denies its spam lol right

Dear Sir/Madam,

Spam is sent automatically in large amount to many e-mail addresses.
What we did was contacting owners through a contact form manually.

I don't think that's exactly the same..

Sincerely,

Dear Shannon,

John already heard of this, so there's no need to.

If you consider this as spam, we're sorry and didn't meant to.

And we will not bother you again.

Again, we're sorry for the inconvenience.

Sincerely,

I hate spam it uses up my mail box this is BS shouldnt we look up there who is info and cant we find out there host and/or ISP some how and report them for spam You may not think its spam but its very clearly unasked for and unwanted junk mail.

What a scumbag, I also got it... And there's another thing I noticed, the actual subject of the email was "Special Offer", but if you look at the bquestion_type (which is the subject) it says "Special offer for cashemail4me.com" That leads me to believe that this was NOT sent through the contact page at all. mad.gif

Your personal coupon ID to receive the 50% discount on an owned license is #13658082

What a scumbag, I also got it...  And there's another thing I noticed, the actual subject of the email was "Special Offer", but if you look at the bquestion_type (which is the subject) it says "Special offer for cashemail4me.com"  That leads me to believe that this was NOT sent through the contact page at all.  mad.gif

actually. the bquestion_type is not the subject. It is the "Brief Description of your Subject" or whatever it's named in your form... lol.

the bquestion_type might be placed in your email subject, dependent on how you have your settings for the form.

subject is subject_type

edited to add actually... you can name the form elements whatever in the heck you want. lol.

I think he just went by the usual CC standard form that comes in the templates folder.

Denies its spam lol right

Dear Sir/Madam,

Spam is sent automatically in large amount to many e-mail addresses.
What we did was contacting owners through a contact form manually.

I don't think that's exactly the same..

Sincerely,

heh...

erm... manually? Well, that mystery has been solved finally.
krazynomad admitted that it was a script that he wrote that "accessed" the contact pages.

Hmm... Makes me wonder why he didn't realize that people actually personalize their sites... their contact pages... ?

We are all not cut from the same cookie mold!!!! biggrin.gif

Got it on all 3 of my sites.

I do not know this person.
I did not request this information
The mailing does not include an opt out link
The mailing doesn't comply with spam act.

This is spam

I have sent all 3 mails to spam cop.

Nothing but SPAM!

And who in their right mind would convert from CC to those scripts??
SelfSupportiveSolutions
I got it too.

But I'm afraid I don't believe for a second that he didn't know what he was doing was a form of SPAM, He just thought he'd get away with it.

Spam, is defined as Unsolicited, Commercial Email.
This qualifies as all three. And it's also a mass/bulk email, which some people think is another criteria for SPAM.

I also agree it's an extremely underhanded way to do business - if your product is any good, you shouldn't really need to pay people to use it.
