I am not very happy, that my anti virus popped up with virus found while loading a shareadspace page.
PSW.Briss.D
Also, I have the google toolbar with pop up blockers and I am still getting pop ups from shareadspace pages:(
Just so you know, I have a pop up blocker to block these pop ups for a reason

My google pop up blocker catches almost all the pop ups. I don't think this is a SAS problem, I think it's an isse with the blocker.
Sorry to hear about the virus

Did you report the page right away? I'm sure Rod will be on top of it in about....3 seconds! If you reported it!

Yah it sounds like a popup blocker problem.. I doubt it was S.a.s because rod checks all the sites after their submitted so he would catch it..

Google has one of the best pop up blockers out there..
And I know that Rod does what he can.. I still can complain about viruses...

Hello,
I have popup manager & its one of the best free popup blockers that i have ever used & I don't use any search toolbar or anything... SAS and programs like them have like a ton of popups period... all it takes is just one to have a virus of some sort.. just one popup i have noticed has a hundred popups... ughhhh besides... the other day my roomate cought an email virus from Rainbowclicks from a ptc link on the site... the link site didn't have the virus it was a popup that had it on the site....
If u want to get rid of the popups that u continue to have from SAS... I can walk ya thru it... it is a long process and no one program is going to stop them all because u have to manually go into your registery and delete some of the popups control folders there and also go into your OS systems folder on and deleted there too... just pm me of u would like me to pm or email ya simple directions of one of the 1 & ONLY true sure fired ways to get that sh*t off your hard drive.... I have to do it to atleast 4 pc's here at my house on my network each week... and it takes alot of time but is worth it in my opinion... Thanks!

this comp has pop up telling me it has gotten trojans when i was there before a few times and usually it is easy to get rid of but on my computer from who knows where i got trojans and can't remove them so i get so annoyed and want to break my computer. So I have been using other family members computers for time being until it works.

same problem here.. I was doing searches for no-minimum.com and he usually sends out 12 links at a time, and I picked up a COUPLE of trojan's thru one of the search sites. I have the same problem with the sharedadspace site.
I don't use pop-up blockers, because it causes to much trouble for me when trying to get work done..
I found a good freeware program, that found a total of 5 (!!!) trojan's on my computer and took care of them, so I run this program once I'm done clicking links that open a "download now" link.. and it usually picks up a whole bunch of stuff.. kinda sad that you have to do this now, used to not be like that...

Yes I got something today and reported it. Said they couldn't find it. Repaired easy with a simple restore point first time. Last time I got a virus and had to do norton in safe mode. I am not surfing there until they get it fixed. As it seems it is not just me as moderators said they couldn't find it even when I posted last sites. I think it is a banner in rotation on one of the sites. Someone in the forum said saybyebye was given trojans today if anyone has the on their sites that could be the problem.

Hi I am creating a site to deal with virus and spyware issues. Here's the link.
http://www.angelfire.com/oz/toomanyreferrals/spyware.htmlI hope this isn't considered spam. There are alot of good free programs I have listed that could keep this from happening to other people.
Just remember the site is a work in progress. It is not finished yet.

What a great idea. Thanks for the link - I have saved it to fav's.
I use Nortons av as well as Nortons firewall and adaware, spybot s & d plus run housecall and panda about once a week.
I have no problem with popups and the firewall is a lifesaver ( slight exageration lol) but it is really good.
Some nights there are steady attempts to download a virus or trojan and being completely computer illiterate I much prefer to prevent than have to send out for repairs.
Thanks again

Yah - I get that from SAS constantly too - as well as having had to clear out a trojan downloader exploit, plus two registry entries that shouldn't be there that keep recreating themselves. And I'm about as paranoid as you can get when I'm running Windoze. I keep pop-ups, banners, various other adverts with exploits blocked, and don't use IE.
It's not worth it - when the new puter gets here, PTR/PTS goes.

that's not an easy virus to get rid of, I had it once, and as I recall AVG wouldn't clean it, had to search Google for instructions
Edited to add: I was just looking up my notes on this virus and I actually got it after clicking on a paid link that was not specified to where it was going and went to a site called Paid-Traffic, the info I read on this virus is that it can migrate to your system restore files, luckily it didn't in my case , but it went right through my firewall.
I was just watching my local news and they were doing a tech story on adware and spyware, and they recommended two good program's a lot of people are familiar with:
Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy
They also stated that Anti-virus and Firewall program's are not a total defence against these trojan's

Umm. You know I get really tired of members telling other members where stuff should go....
And it happens way too much...
It is fine for me to post it here.
It is a complaint and it is about the get paid world.
If I wanted to involve Rod then you might be right.. but this was a vent, a complaint and a little bit of frustration.
Plus the fact, I don't have the site it came from so bothering Rod would be a lost cause.

Actually, AVG did clean it right up for me..
I was pleased.. Maybe they updated since you had the problem.

Another solution to the popups and viruses is to dump Mircosoft IE and download Mozilla Firefox.
I was using M IE, had a great pop up blocker (but it didn't catch everything), and use Trend Mirco antivirus and was constantly having Trend Micro tell me that a virus or trojan had attempted to download. I used AdAware every day and always deleted at least 25 spyware cookies. Recently on a group I am on, several were talking about Firefox and how good it was. I decided to download it and try it out.
WOW!!!!! No popups what so ever! And when I ran AdAware - there was only 1 cookie!
I doubt that I will go back to MIE.
Just my 2 pesos!
