Heck at most you only need 400 mhz with windows 98 (and internet) to do it.
You'll find a used one is just as good.

no they're not. they're as good as any other computer. best thing to do ptr is with it. then you don't mind so much if they get messed up from virus' and stuff like that.
wouldn't you rather do all that stuff at home than in the library

But the big problem is WIndow 98 is outdated.
Microsoft are not support it at all. They are doing anymore For Updates.
Plus The new computer today. It is very fast and have a huge hard drive, memory.
Plus they even included Dvd Burner/cd burners. for just 600 bucks after mail and rebate.

1) You don't need 3.4 gigahertz to do email and the internet.
2) Windows 98 is fine as it is.
3) Do you even have a use for DVD burner?

Thats kind of my thoughts as well. Why not just get a cheap one until you can afford a bigger newer one. If a cheap one aint good enough then complaining about the limits at the library is kind of pointless.

What do you need a DVD/CD burner for? If all your doing is GPF and GPTR.
Besides you don't need alot of hardrive space and memory. Heck i've seen computer with 300 mhz, windows 98 (there are still updates), 64 megs of ram and a 4 gig harddrive run very smoothly with e-mail and forums.

But think when you will be able to buy computer at 600$.
If you will buy a computer for 20$ then you can spend more time on internet meyby you will find a way to earn for this brand new computer.

I bought a new comp for $400. There werent any mail ins either, it was instant discounts. Its an emachine but name makes no difference they all perform the same. A emachine and a dell witht he same specs work just the same. Anyway...
For $400 I got (Its since been upgraded because I felt I needed it, wants are needs right?

):
2.7 GHz
60 GB HD
512 MB RAM
CDRW/DVDR combo
5 USBs
Windows XP
Included monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse, everything but a mousepad.
The difference is that it doesnt have a pentium 4, its a celeron which is perfect for what I'm using it for.
Will.

OMG what an attitude!
Well if you'd rather go to the library for the wrest of your life......
I haven't even touched a new computer in many many years (well in a store but that doesn't count, right?

) and I surely wouldn't call either of our computers useless

Besides if you can find a cheap used one and a really really cheap other computer you can always take some additional HD and ram out of the other one and add to the one you want to use, boost it up for almost no money!

Very very true. A friend of mine built a very nice PC for under $200 from stuff he had, or things he purchased at grage sales. Its nice.
