I picked up this new very nasty trojan - nothing seems to work with it Have tried cwshredder, adaware spysweeper etc. Cleaned out entries in registry and deleted all the files in windows linked to it BUT it keeps coming back.

Tried system restore - others have tried reinstalling internet explorer with no luck

Theres an uninstall link on the website but it doesnt work and think its downloading more files,

Ipicked it up doing a link for one of those new paid2promote site. finally went backto sytem restore and restored registry. It corrupted task manager so I had to restore that file.

Its called home search assistant and nothing is catching it. It keeps replicating under different names-think it embeds inself in task manager and how knows what else.

it also installs an adult dialer.

I would do as DearDorothy suggested and run HijackThis and post your log either here or in the forum recommended by her smile.gif

Have you run msconfig and checked your start up?

Its probably Coolwebsearch. I know I had one that CWSshredder couldn't delete.

Start safe mode then run Hijack this. Delete the registry entries and the accsoiated files. Then run ad-aware. Delete the files that come up (except for about.blank) Then run housecall (you'll need safe mode with networking support) delete the trojans that come up then restart. That should do it. (I said housecall because thats the only one that works for me so far.)
