Latin singer Marc Anthony has posted a "personal message" on his official web site, marcanthonyonline.com, in response to the rumors, gossip, and inaccurate reports surrounding his split with his wife, former beauty queen Dayanara Torres. Tabloid reports have alleged that Anthony and Jennifer Lopez have become more than just friends after working together on a new single, but Anthony insists that's simply not the case. He also wanted to make it very clear that J. Lo had nothing to do with his marriage ending. "...The fact that Jennifer Lopez has been unjustly dragged in to this is wrong. In no way, shape or form did she have anything to do with the rupture of my marriage. I want to make that 100 percent clear," Anthony wrote. "The statements that were made alluding to this fact were misleading and malicious and were intended to be so. This was a blatant exploitation and use of someone's name to attract publicity," he explained.
The singer also addressed the claims made by Elizabeth Leyba, the 21-year-old Miami waitress who alleged that the singer was the father of her infant son. He continued, "Then there is the accusation that I fathered an illegitimate child. I think we all know what that was about. The accusation has since been proven 100 percent unfounded based on DNA tests; however the damage has been done. For those that stood by me and supported me I simply thank you."
Anthony said that found it "nauseating" to have to address allegations and accusations made by people he knows. He noted, "It is hard for me to accept this morbid fascination with the personal lives of public figures. However, in light of the recent outbreak of sensational accusations and slanderous statements I feel compelled to address certain issues in an attempt to clear things up for those I care about." Anthony's fans shouldn't expect to hear more from the Latin superstar on this matter. "This will be the first and last time I make a comment about anything having to do with my personal and private life," he concluded.
In January, Anthony's wife filed for divorce in Miami-Dade County, Florida, saying their marriage was, quote, "irretrievably broken." The couple has two children.
