Should I move? I don't like where I'm at, but it has a big room. The place I'm thinking about has a very small room, and central air. Where I live now is close to school, where I may move is further away, but very close to where I am spending lots of time for summer. It's very hot in the place I am now in summer, very cold in winter, no air and I can't run a space heater. The place I am thinking of moving to is owned by a couple; the man is home all day due to disability. I know them only a little from talking with them at Ramseys where I am spending lots of time right now. They seem like decent people. My current roomie is always moving around my stuff, have no space in the refridgerator or freezer to call my own. I don't know what it would be like at the other place, but they don't seem the type to get into my stuff like that. There is a bath and 1/2 at the other place; only 1 bathroom here. The place I'm thinking of moving, the room is very small, though they did offer a basement space-but, she wants to set up the basement to do her crafting, and knock out the wall for the room. I would need the basement; the bedroom upstairs is only 9x11! Enough room for bed and dresser, nothing else. She did ask me if I wanted the basement, but I don't want to impose on her space. There is someone there in the basement until the 15th, then they are moving.

What do you think, should I move or stay put?

Do they have references? I didn't vote, but if you have the opportunity I would take the basement. Also, does it save you money by moving to the new place? Have you been checking the papers, Free Press, News, Observer & Eccentric? I'm not sure of any apartments and the like that are inexpensive near Madonna.
stanne312
because of my financial situation, I HAVE to take a room in someone's home. sad.gif Apt's are 2-300.00 more than I can afford. The price is the same, $300.00 for a room.
mccallul
That's what I was worried about. You could try for a living loan, they give you enough to pay for school and supplies as well as room and board. Just an idea. Good luck.
stanne312
ya, thought about that-but I hate to owe that much money when I graduate. I may not be able to pay it when I need to, that's what's holding me back. Already owe my sis and dad almost 3 grand now for my car and repairs on it.
mccallul
Darn. I hated that when I was in school. How many credit hours are you taking? Have you considered a part time job (if you don't already have one that is)? JCPenney at Twelve Oaks is looking for people. Not sure about anywhere else.
gotlucky
I had a brain wave to day, maybe it will help you. Although I have the machines, I dont have enough and I decided I need a part time job. I checked the local paper and saw a cleaning job for 2 hours a day. early in the morning. I would love that. I called but I have had my mobile pinched from the car. I remembered this govt job website so I checked it and there were some good cleaning jobs. One paid $17.65 an hour for cleaning public phones for 10 hours a week. Check all job websites and type in cleaning. I even checked my free college for cleaning courses and they have 1 for 100 hours, Thats not a lot of training for good jobs. It stats in early July. Please pray I get 1 of these jobs. I want one.

Praying for you, Gotlucky.

I tried for a summer job at school, I can only take jobs through the school, otherwise I loose my benefits. During classes, I just dont have time to work-remember, I do have a disability that takes up brain space. smile.gif It takes me quite a few hours to grasp something anyone else can get in an hour or 2; have to coax my mind to settle down so I can concentrate. I've already thought of these options; getting a workstudy while taking classes would impede my progress. This is so frustrating! I just want to cry.
gotlucky
How long have you got to go at college, I havent even heard from mine. I nearly made the library diploma but decided to ask for a certificate, havent got it sorted yet. I am sick of thinking and using my brain, here factory and cleaning work pay quite well and I wont have to think. . I cant really apply for shelving work without the cert. I found some voluntary work which would be useful on resume. As for your room sometimes a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. Keeping your stuff down to one room is a great idea, I rent a whole house. If I had just one room I could even live at the beach and some places even provide meals.

I didn't know that. I can only imagine how frustrating that is. My husband's aunt has something similar to dislexia. It's not letters that get jumbled up, its the actual words within the sentence that get messed up in her head. Her son diagnosed her about 5-10 years ago, when he was taking graduate courses in teaching psychology.

wow, that's awful. I will pray for your hubby's aunt. I know God can heal, he has healed me a great deal. No way, even 5 years ago, could I have attempted college at a university. And look, this last term, made the honor roll! Just hanging in, hoping he will heal me further so perhaps I can work and take classes, and not have it impede my studies. Been going to a prayer meeting on Tuesday eve for prayer since Ive been out of classes. It's helping tremendously; I have them pray for healing of memories.

I don't know if this will help or not, but does writing down everything you read and are supposed to remember help?
stanne312
ya, note taking during study sure does help a great deal.

That's what she's trying to do. Do you have enough money to buy a house David?

Anne - keep writing everything down. biggrin.gif

Anne,

Hmmmm not sure really, the place where you're currently staying doesn't sound too good, thinking the woman is already complaining about so many things, it's hot during summer/cold when it's winter etc
and wasn't this the same place where you already got the problem with parking your car? sad.gif

new place sounds a lot better minus the small room....could you share the basement to get more room but not take it complitely? If that could work then it would be so much better!

I'll pray for you hon,

Yes, they said I could use part of the basement. I would have to put my computer down there, there is not enough room in the bedroom for a bed, my dresser, and a computer! lol. Very cramped and small. Though, there is a basement bedroom, but she wants to knock it out and have it set up for her craft stuff......... Though she did ask me if I wanted the basement room; but I don't want to cause any problem! Lord knows, just by breathing I cause alot of troubles! lol

Yes, this is the same place about the car--have it in the street, am so uncomfortable. Wake up every day, look out the window when I go downstairs to make my coffee, and say, it's a great day in Detroit, my car's still there! lol.

Thanks for the votes. Any more?
Pia
-Though she did ask me if I wanted the basement room-

Anne, sit down with these people and talk, ask a lot of questions and truly learn what they feel would be the best option to go by! Tell them to tell you what they really feel and not the answers they might say just to be nice and understanding. smile.gif

I doubt you'd be causing any problems, let alone just by breathing!!! ;-)

How would this work, make the small room upstairs a craft room in addition to the wrest of the basement and you take the room which is in the basement? unsure.gif

Great minds think alike! I did think about that option, and proposing it to her. Though, there is already a bed in that room, and really no other place to put it.

Let's pray that God will show them what to do; they are going on vacation tomorrow and will be gone 10 days. They are prayerful people, and have the gifts of God, such as discernment and word of knowledge, and do pray with others.
stanne312
That settles it, then. Let's hope it works out.............

Sooo tired of moving hither, thither and thou with no place to call home. sad.gif
