Apologies if this is a duplicate thread; I looked & didn't see this elsewhere, and I'd like as many US residents as possible to at least see it.
*********************************************************
IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF
EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT
PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE
DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL
COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR
STOCKPILES.
AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE
ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF
OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH
AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL
COMPANIES.
THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY
DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR behind "
DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION
SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF
GASOLINE THAT DAY.
THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF
YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY
PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS
YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.
WAITING ON THIS ADMINISTRATION TO
STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT
GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE
REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT
THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS
AGO?
REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE
PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE
SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO
RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING
COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR
PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON
EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS
LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING
MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO
PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY
DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY,
WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.
SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD.
FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU
KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE
MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF
THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS
ENOUGH"
*********************************************************
Thanks to Brian of XtremeEmails for sending this out in the wee hours of the morning!!

Not buying gas on one day will not lower the prices. It will proably just cause the pricesto go higher on the 20th. The best way to lower prices is to use less gas.

That's not necessarily true - actions like this have proved to make a difference/prove a point in the past.

Doesn't work, what would work is taking all their loving oil. We're getting accused of doing so anyway so we might as well do it.

Remember the late 70 - early 80?s -- there going to be a lot of truckers on CB saying "there?s cheap gas here at ....".
Roll on Smokey and the Bandit PT 4 ?????
"I?m eastbound and down
loaded up and truckin,
I?m gonna do wot they say can?t be done...
I?ve got a long way to go -
and a little time to get there.
So come on bandit
lets run ......."From the UK 1st Snowman -

everybody wanted to have the handle of Bandit .

I REFUSE to pay $2.10 per gallon of gas! They raised the prices yesterday RIGHT AFTER I filled up. Raised it $0.05 I might ad.
Anyway, a new truck didn't come in. They raised it on the gas that was already there, so right now they know we will pay, so why not keep raising it. It made me SO MAD to know they are just raising it, without having to pay more. The gas I pumped at $2.05 was the same gas they are charging $2.10 for. I MIGHT understand if the gas companies were being charged more than raising the prices.
I am planning on walking a lot more (as I did today) rather than pay $2.10 at the pumps and drive like I normally do.
It is outrageous. We live near a Native American Reservation and get to pay $1.87, so that is what I am going to do until the rest of the places decide to drop their prices.

You can't blame George W. Bush.
You have to blame China. Since they are a lot of people using the supply of Gasoline.
A lot of people china are using Car Gasoline daily.
You can't control Supply and Demand.
Anyone in here remember 1970. The price of Gasoline is around 2-3 bucks per gallon. The entire Usa does not have enough gasoline. That why the price gasoline in the 1970 is way outgeous??

I kind of prefer to walk or ride my bike places. Right now I need a new bike because it's been a few years since I've gotten a new one.

I guess that's hard for people who have a big family, kids who are really small, health problems and that kind of stuff. :\ Electric cars are what we need.

err Davina -sorry David
I think I mentiond the 70 about 2-3- posts above.
The sale of CB?s greatly increase in the US as both truckers and car drivers wanted to find cheap gas prices.
Like SJ said to you - do you actually read you posts and what you quote.
Hey don?t take it the wrong way.
Just sit there polishing you high yeal shoes ....

From what I have read is since all the oil companies are in bed together if everyone just boycotted one like Shell for a while, that would make a huge difference then letting them all absorb the loss.

Anybody been to snopes lately.....
I do not think that one day of not buying gas would really matter....
and as I see it----more people are on the road now. Cannot cross the street--lol
As for me---I do not need to drive---have convience stores, pharmacy and grocery all within 10 blocks of me---but if there is an emergency---I WILL drive to the hospital.
And David, sigh, if everyone is riding their bikes in the road---what car is gonna hit them??

Yes, people can hit someone on a bicycle but you can just as easily wreck your car/truck and get hurt worse because people tend to speed.
I personally don't think it will do much good to stop buying gas on one day. But maybe it will hurt them financially this summer when most people can't afford to drive on their vacations this year. I know we go to Knoxvile/Gatlinburg, Tn every summer and I don't know if we are going to be able to this year.
Also if you are going to boycot certain gas stations be sure to find out if they are the mom and pop owned businesses or actually owned by the companies. If you own a gas station and get your gas from say BP, BP charges the independently owned companies more per gallon then what they are selling it for at their own gas stations...did that make sense? I know many of the locally owned gas stations are going out of business because they can't afford to buy the gas from the companies because they are charging them so much and they have to raise so much more to even make .03-.05 off a gallon.

I figure if everyone road bikes they'd be more careful and there would be less fatal accidents.

Yes, verrry smart

You think the oil is going to be threre forever for us to use? Nope, it's going to end one sunny day unless people start to use less of it, until then the price is going to go up steadily because we're running out of it!
And what's up with that european remark? We don't drive cars over here?
ugh, no point in this, we are forced to fuel our cars no matter what the price is, no it's not going to go down if everyone decides to not fuel up on some sertain day, it's only going up if anything

Just a thought for you all. The price of gas is dependant on the price of petroleum. How many other things do you use that require petroleum to be made?
- Artificial Fibres
- Plastics
- Many Lubricants
And that's just what my sleep-adled brain can come up with at 2:30am.

As petroleum prices start to rise, expect other things than gas to go up as well. For example, I was listening to a carpet manufacturing industry representative mentioning that, over the next couple of months, expect carpeting to rise 3% - 5%.
Just something to think about.
Joem
May 19 2004, 04:46 AM
Well nearly everything will rise that has to be transported.
The transport companies are NOT going to loose money.

I wish there was something we COULD do.

I'm tired of being jerked around by these oil companies. I am paying $1.97 a gallon which is the highest gas has ever been in my area. It just makes me sick.
