i had this trojan a week or so and couldn't get rid of it. finally after an AVG updrade it got it.. all was clear until last night when pest star mails sent out the first 1/2 cent link i clicked on it and guess what trojan horse was back . I saw it come in i know it came from the link at pest star it locked up only the pest star page at that point but i couldn't close anything had to do a cold boot and run AVG to get rid of it before i could do antything. the trojan is Trojan Horse Starrtpage 4.AO

it's a fiestly little booger and hard to get rid of but AVG finally got it more than once so far.

I did email the PO of pest star and told them i was certain it came from there but guess what no response an i get it again tonight from them. i think it's not worth my $1.00 a month to remain at pest star if they do not check member emails and respond on something this serious

I had the same somewhere else with a lightblue 0.5 ptc of White Emails. It came with "download.trojan". Norton spotted it, but I had to do a scan afterwards to get rid of it. I mailed the webmistress this morning through the contact page, plus I send her an email 10 hours later, but it's still there...

Hello

While we are on the subject of trojans I picked one up from a banner at Helping Hands email. It was called Thought Sec.3.My avg scanner notified me. I did a virus scan and I locked it in the vault without a problem. Seeing my pop up blocker was off at the time I went back with it on next day and redid same banner.I wasn't surprised. I picked up the same trojan again so i had to lock the sucker back in the vault. I then emailed the wm and informed her. She replied her virus scanner did not find any trojan and no other complaints were received so she wouldn't remove it. I told her i couldn't afford any free hitchikers so I would not do the PTC only the emails. This was over a week ago. Well tonight I tried the PTC again and I got the same trojan back. I had my pop up blocker on and had nothing else open but Helping Hands. I love the site but not worth the risk!!!

is this the one that grays out your home page setting and hijacks the favorites? i have something that has done this. it also won't let the "tab" key work, and copy/paste comes up blank. i can manually put in sites, but if it's in my favorites it still won't load.

help me fix this thing, it's driving me crazy!

I got one from a GainMail link to a search engine...can't recall which one. Of course I was at WORK....the ONE and only time I've dared to click a link at work....Grrrrr!!!

What browser are you all using? I'm a member of Pest Star & Gain Mail but didn't get either of the trojans. I stopped using IE and have been using Mozilla Firefox instead.
