I am playing around with the email features...

they have various "fields" for mail merger...one being the members email addy and/or member name I think,

can this be used to append/replace a variable into a url that is in the email??

for instance, could one send out mass email where the variable in a url, say <Membername> in a url would be replaced by the members user/membername/?

I am not sure if I am being clear here..but you can also pm me if you like..thanks in advance....cheri

The codes you refer to are indeed much like mail merge fields in a word processor. What they do is exactly what you suggest - place them in a mail and when the mail is sent out, each member's copy has their details placed in the text where the code appears.

Edit: as for putting them in a URL ... I don't think so - but you couldeasily run a test mail to yourself and find out smile.gif

It wont work in the paid email link part sad.gif I tried and couldnt get it to work
About the only place you can get it to do that effectively is in the paid to sign up Section...........and so far I have only been succesful getting it to work at the end of the link and it had to be #USERNAME# opposed to <USERNAME>

you can use the <USERNAME> feature in regular text in the mail to personalize things but just not in the paid link part...it will show up correctly if its the revisit link that wont go through the scripts.

Asking John is a good idea as if its available for paid to sign up feature it should be easliy added to the paid email links
