whining AGAIN!

Landlady threatened to unhook my phone, because I don't have a jack upstairs and the housecord for the phone is dangling to the box outside, out my window. Ya, it doesn't look nice, but I have been trying to get people to put in a jack-if I have my phone co. do it, it will be $80.00 I don't have. It's her house; in actuality she should be responsible, but I said I would take care of it-because silly me, I thought if I bought this plan for 5.00 month,it would take care of placing the jack. It doesn't, I cancelled. ugh.

Hopefully someone from church will give a ring in a few days-he works on commercial lines, but wires are all the same, right?

She did say she'd get a ceiling fan for me-it will help cool it off a bit more up here.Meanwhile when my buddy gets here, maybe I can have him check out this mysterious plug by the window-if it has it's own amperage, I'm good to go with an airconditioner! I hope, I hope! biggrin.gif

Hi

Err it my be different where you are - but in Spain and the UK a land lady/lord can NOT touch you phone line - it is yours you pay for it. OK the cable my look ugly but she should have told you before you had it installed how she wanted the cable to be put.
Now she want you to change it -- hmm I would ask her for 1/2 the mone as she wasn?t clear to start with - if you can get it done free thants even better.

Just remeber the line is yours as you pay for it the instalation from the pole to the termination box belong to the tel company if she disconnects you you can complain and they will sue her.

But there are also housing and NEC (National Electrical Codes) that must be followed when wiring is done. If it doesn't meet code, who do you think is responsible if someone gets hurt? The homeowner, that is why she wants it corrected.

Well Duckie a phone line has a low voltage - anyway I did say I?m not sure of the laws over there. But heres an example the homeowner decides to disconnect anne phone and while doing so recieves a shock of fall of the ladder who is responsible the phone company, anne ? no the home owner is and the phone company can still sue the home owner.
Anne did say there is a powersocket by the window - well that is very dangerous.
Not to mention the damp that can get into the socket imagine if the window is open and it starts to rain the socket can get wet and short circuit again this is the home owners fault. In the UK there are strict laws set regarding distances from windows, floor level etc. these are set by the Institute of Electrical Engineers.
I am a qualified electrician however I am no longer in the UK and it makes me shudder to see some of the electrics here in Spain.

Anyway give mistyblue a hug from me she?s cute.
