One fateful day a princess young,
of fairy tales long fond,
beheld a tearful little frog
beside a silver pond.

"I once was handsome," wept the frog,
"a prince of high degree,
until an evil witch then cast
this awful spell on me.

"One kiss from you, oh princess fair,
will break that spell," it cried,
"and I shall be a prince again
and you will be my bride.

"We'll move into the castle with
my mother, you'll prepare
my meals and clean up after me,
my children you will bear.

"You'll entertain my rowdy friends,
you'll nurse me when I'm sick;
forever happily we'll live -
one kiss will do the trick!"

That evening as the princess dined
upon her meal nutritious,
"Not nice likely!" she exclaimed,
"frog legs are so delicious."
