I bet they'll lose A LOT of members, cause people just aren't at all too eager to put their phone number on the internet.
I'm not saying this about PaidMailInc at all.
But, SPAM is one thing, but it's not half as bad as getting your phone number placed on a bunch of telemarketers lists.
But it WILL be efficient at catching cheaters.

Even if you're english, dont be in a hurry to give out your phone number, I get international marketers calling me
WORSE: in the am!
3am - Errrr hello? Can you do a survey for me?
Me: You know what the time is?
marketer: err 8pm?
Me: Try 4am!
marketer: Oh year sorry sir for bothering you
Me: yeah cya.

FYI
Phone numbers will not be staying on the site...if members have been bothering to read their emails. I made it perfectly clear that as I was checking accounts for their phone numbers that I would be removing them from the site and they would be in my personal files only.... and those that didnt want it on the site at all to email that info for me. I wouldnt stoop to selling anyones phone number nor other info...and I do know how to figure out different time zones that I would not be callling anyone in the middle of the night!

Something else.....I have had the emails that I sent out POSTED in PaidMailINC Folder since 5/15.
Members should be checking....If anyone has missed information they have nobody to blame but themslves, since when I started the folder that all members were notified that the folder was here and to be checking for updates realising that hardly anyone bothers to read the emails at all!

Guess you haven't gotten to my account yet. I supplied my phone number in the requested field on May 16th and just checked-it's still there.
I have removed it and will pm you with my member ID and phone number if that is acceptable.
Also for those complaining there is a thread in the PaidMailInc support folder that dealt with this issue in mid-May

Thank You Jeff for support in this matter. As was explained earlier, this is a huge and time consuming job an was going to take many man hours as there are over 5000 members to go through.
Jeff it's fine for you to pm it to me.

I'm not a member of paid mail inc, so I wouldnt have any idea. I commented on the phone number part, and i'm sure if you got calls 4am, that you'd warn others to be careful too, it was a general comment, nothing aimed at your company.

Plus they have a privacy policy to keep information private.. So they are obligated to do everything they can to prevent your personal information private and your information is for their use only as stated in previous email.

Yeah I know how that 3/4am telemarketer thing goes too. Then in their defense they say something like "Well I thought you lived in Alaska or something" and it's not even a decent hour to be calling there, either.
I also notice that some GPTRs sell your snail mail address around like wildfire and you get some of the SOS from like 30 people or something.

I never recieve that email either, but I know I am near cashout. Why would you need international members' phone numbers for?
Is it a must to give you my number?

If I'm not mistaken in a previous email paidmail inc responded that they would call to make sure that the members were who they said they were prior to making a payout request... I think that way he could have the numbers so if he got 3 requests for payout and the 3 were the same person trying to cheat or something they would have to give three #'s and if they were the same person that would be hard??? That's what I got from the previous email... Is that right webmaster?

Yes Tipsy you are correct! This is our way of battling all the cheaters that exist. We are not saying everyone cheats, we know that. Like we said just our way of overcoming those that do.
And yes Family Affair it is a must for you to supply us with your phone number. It is stated in the TOS and was sent out in a paid e-mail to the entire membership.

I just checked my email history & saw it.
1) Such important announcement with regards to account getting cancelled should not be in the same email as paid links.
2) Very poor placement of the announcement & you never seperate the paid link and announcement, they are just above each other, should leave at least a few lines between them.
I will say at least 90% of members will not come across your announcement.
I thought it was just some words of thank you to members for something, so didn't read it through so clearly.

Due to the change in the TOS all PaidMailINC.com members are required to
give a telephone number in order to be contacted before being sent any
payments. Unfortunately, this is how it has to be due to the cheating going
on in the memberships of not only PaidMailINC but many other programs as
well. It wont be listed at all on the site only in my personal file. Yes EVERYONE is REQUIRED to give a phone number. Hope this clears things up.

well in that case, it was nice knowing your program.
just cancelled my account with you, cause i will let NOBODY force me to give my phone number.
the adress is ok, cause then you can trace where mail comes from, but a phone number is a much more delicate thing, i think that you are not in the position to force members to give their number, cause who will give them a 100% guarantee that the number will not be sold? or used for other purposes? you can't give them that security.
so oncemore, bye.

Jun 3 2002, 10:56 AM
Techincally if the program offers a privacy policy (which he does) and he were too then sell your number and it was traced back to him.. Then he could be sued for liability... I don't think he would do anything to have that happen... Plus mail is worse especially after Sept. 11 in the USA I worry about who gets my address since the Anthrax scare... So at least the phone can't kill you.. just my take on it... I understand though people not feeling ok with giving out their personal phone numbers..

Jun 3 2002, 10:59 AM
well i can understand your fear since what happened in your country, but the problem with phone numbers is, here in the netherlands it's much harder to trace where a phonecall comes from, then where a letter comes from, that is why i won't let anybody force me to give my number.

Wayne has a good point, though...how much could it run you, monetarily (is that a word? is now! ) speaking, to phone people all over the world? After all, PTR is an international business, and you could have people in the 4 corners of the globe. Purely from a cost standpoint, is this preferable to the cost of cheaters? Just something about which I got to wondering.

That is down right low. I think I am glad that I did not join any of your stupid programs. I don't give out my phone number to anybody. It is unlisted, and if you put it on your private file on your computer? How can you guerentee that no hacker hack into the file and steal all those phone numbers and sell it themselves? My phone number is unlisted because the last time we had it listed? We got a lot of prank calls, and harassment from telemarketers, and bill collectors for bills that are not even ours. You can take your requests and shove them. I don't trust you or anybody over the Internet. That is a question about you? How can we trust you? Asking for people's telephone numbers by forcing them to is really unlawful here in the US. It is optional if they want to give it out to strangers. I will never give out my phone numbers to strangers because how do I know they will call us by making us pay for their phone calls?

It costs far more in cheaters than it would to make a min. call to wherever I need to call. Business call plans are reasonable. Those who feel that theyre not safe with giving that info can unsubscribe. I will not EVER share that info with ANYONE! I'm fighting to keep out cheaters and scammers, not become one myself. It's not being kept on the site nor on my PC. Its all being typed out and kept in my Personal files only! There is a PaidMailINC support folder here and all of the info on this program is there. Any more questions or comments, please use that folder.

Summersun not everybody's phonenumber can be seen, I presume it is what you meant, but to make this clear, if I call the KPN (Dutch phonecompany) and all other phonecompanies at whom you might have a phonenumber (Mobile, like Ben, Telfort etc.) you just ask them not to show your number to others, that's all there is to it if you don't want others to see your number. Drawback is you can't become a *member* of seeing other peoples numbers with KPN. With the others however that is, as far as I know, not a problem. That's how it works in the Netherlands. (I happen to know goes I got it )
