Paypal sent me an email saying that I had limited access to my account. Now they want me to fax them copies of my utilitiy bill, drivers license, social security, and a copy of my bank statement. I don't think they should get a copy of my bank statement. I know my husband won't want me to send it to them either. Any one have any suggetstions as to what I should do? Should I send them what they want? Or should I say the heck with them? I'm so close to getting my first payouts on some progams.

have you tried accessing your account from your normal link (
not through an email link) ?
If you can use the account maybe the email was a hoax
If not, then I would want them to explain
exactly why your account has a problem and why they want this info.
I wouldn't send anything until I was happy with their explanation (even then, I'm not sure)

They want me to send them all that info, too. I didn't give my full name, so it's more difficult for someone to hack the account; so I have limited access as well until I fax them all the info, which really I don't think I should have to for crying out loud, can't they read the ip address and see it's the same person who opened the account in the first place.

I attached my bank account to my paypal and they didn't make me send any statements.. All they did was deposited like a few cents twice and I had to look at my account and get the amounts and put them in and I was verified.. In fact I remember a email sent by paypal stating they would never email you asking for any information. So I think that if it's a email it's probably a hoax.

that's what they do--make 2 separate deposits for a small amount, less than $1. You then have to verify the deposit amounts to verify your account. Got to the site directly--not from a link in an email. If there is a problem, you will be informed onsite. NEVER go to paypal from a link in an email. Go directly to the site itself.

Thanks for all the responses every body. Thank you coin gallery for the number it looks like i'm going to need it. Let me tell everyone about a little about myself. I'm an American, I live in Texas. I've had my Paypal account since May 2002. I Have my bank account going through pay pal and the did the thing where they make 2 deposits into my bank account to verify it. I depsited $50 when I first got it and have used it very little since then. I haven't ever had any problems with it until now. I actually got paid from a program on the 11th so I used the money that I was paid for a membership on paidbanners not to long afterward. When I checked my email today it said that I had limited access to my Paypal account so I went to the site and checked it out. I just don't get it though why they need a copy of my most recent bank statement. I just used paypal to do 2 e-checks and my bank paid them. I just think it's a big crock. Now if I want to give them the info that they want I have to pay to get them faxed over and I've heard horror stories about PayPal saying they never get the faxes. I don't want to give them my bank statement but I want to be able to get my money to.

ohh goodie they are at it again. Paypal limited Pennies again this morning, saying we are running a "pyramid scheme" and I need to sign a notified statment saying we won't do that to get access back. Now as we are not running a pyramid scheme I can hardly promise to stop doing something i am not doing. Wrote resolutions, we shall see.

Dear Erin Stewart,
We have recently received several complaints regarding your possible
participation in a business that derives its revenue solely from the
recruitment of additional members, and not in exchange for providing a
service or product. Please be aware that this type of behavior may be
illegal, and is also in violation of our User Agreement and is not
tolerated by PayPal.
As we have stated previously, your account has been placed on limited
access. To regain full access you must provide a notarized letter stating
you will not participate in activities deriving revenue solely from the
recruitment of additional members. Please follow the steps in the previous
email sent to you to provide the notarized letter.
Sincerely,

I guess they are talking about paid banners as "recruitment of members?"

I would also email nigel and send him that email. If paypal does not allow you to get paid for recruiting members then his site is going to suffer... that's silly.. It should be like a bank account.. You put money in, you take money out. How you get your money should be none of their business... We'll if I lived in your state I'd notarized for you

cause I'm a notary but I'd have to drive to your state to do so but you can get it done by writing the statement (if you want to please them) and carry it to the dmv and carry your driver's license and for around $3.00 you can get it notarized. sorry this is happening to you

what do they mean by "solely from the recruitment" most programs you have to at least earn yourself?
I haven't had this happen thank goodness but I feel that maybe paypal need to list these sites/programs if they are such a program so people can go "alright I'm not allowed to get involved with that" rather than picking and choosing at will?
I know there TOS says about MLM but isn't everything "get paid" really a form of it?

Thanks Tipsy. I bought the $5 goldmembership on PBE to. I bought it last week though. I hope that's not the one they are talking about because I love that site. It's one of my favorites. I think paypal is just being stupid and wants to take everyone for what that they can get. That's just my opinion though. And as for getting something notarized they can kiss off because I didn't do anything wrong. I sure would like to know why they are limiting PBE's account again? They just did that to them a couple of weeks ago. It's got to be a real pain for PBE.

Ok everybody, I found some toll free numbers for paypal and called them yet again. This is what they told me. You know how if you recruit people to paypal and you can get $5 for it? The way they explained it to me is that I'd emailed them back in June and mentioned something about some program that helped you to do that just for the $5 (Which I did NOT do. Never emailed paypal before in my life.) They said to print out the email, then they said that I need to sign a paper saying that I'm not doing that and have it notarized and fax it to them along with the rest of the stuff they want then it should be fixed.
This is what I'm going to write:
I am not in participation with a business that derives its revenue solely from the

Well my webmaster account is back (for now), my personal one (that i sent the info to at the same time as webmaster, and again yesterday) is still restricted, they say they can't find the faxes <sigh>
The problem with losing paypal is not paying members, it is advertisers. So many prefer it. However even if we lose it entirely we can get credit card processing, and probably cheaper or as cheap as paypals current fees.
On the notorized affadvit, I lucked out, my husband has our truck as well, so I called a "traveling notary". They were supposed to come over at 5:30, and was going to give me a deal of 10.00 with no travel fee. Well called at 7:30 asking if they forgot me, he said now, was running late. He showed up at 9:30, notorized it then refused to take payment because he was over 4 hours late.
So got that done free

Thing is they never said if they consider paid to read a pyramid scheme. Now, if we shut down new sign ups, totally removed the referral levels, our members can still cashout on their own earnings. (we wouldn't .. put the pitchforks down...) Since our program is free to join that kinda messes up the definition of a pyramid scheme
EStewart
Nov 18 2002, 03:57 AM
Well I hope it doesn't come to you having to keep new people from signing up and all that. I wouldl like you to know that I love your program and will stick with in what ever choices you have to make becuase of paypal. In my opinion, from what I've been reading about paypal the last couple days is that people should close their accounts and find some other ways to pay online. They froze my account and I only had a little over a dollar in it and the most I've ever had it in was $50 that I deposited when I first joined. And I used $20 of it to pay for a Muppet movie for my kids. I only started using it recently for some goldmemberships. Most of the time the only way I can even pay for anything is if I get paid from a program. The first time I ever got paid more than 90 cents was from the money suite so I used that to buy a membership on Paid Banners and the next day they froze my account. I just don't get how they think I'm involved in a so called pyramid scheme. And if you call them they won't give you any details. I didn't do anything wrong and I don't think any of the other people they are acussing of being in a pyramid scheme did either.I hardly ever use the stupid paypal. And I never use what little I have for anything but the PTRP's. And if they think they are pyramid schemes why haven't they said something to every single person that's in a PTR and has a paypal account? I think paypal is just out to get peoples money. If it's supposed to be our money, how come we can't use it how we see fit? It's none of their business what I spend my money on.
I'm sorry this is so long but I had to get this off my chest. I'm just worried is all, I've been waiting for payouts on a few programs so that I can upgrade to gold or finally be able to buy advertising for a change. Without the paypal I just don't know what to do. I know this sounds stupid but I just can't figure out how to get money in or out of E-gold. Besides, some programs don't even use E-gold.
