Talk about another scumware. You have to add 7 Search on that list as well. They are well known to put spyware on your computer as well.

Yeah, smart-e-mails has something called the-ultimate-browser or something like that. I got it twice off their site (only pages open) but managed to disconnect from the internet before download finished. It downloads so quickly!!!
Then I opened my tiny firewall (yeah yeah, should do it all the time!! lol) It tried once more before I blocked it for good.

Isn't there a way to keep stuff from downloading? on my computer, nothing will download unless I accept it. I do have ZA if something should happen to get through, but nothing does. I always get a security warning from windows if something wants to download.

ok its on fastcashemail too
found out that its the compact banner code
and only forces a download every other time :-/
i would advise webmasters to remove it if you want to keep your members happy
Kristin
Nov 12 2002, 12:58 AM
hehe, I hate compact banners anyway!! Because they take so long to download on my computer, it makes the timers last longer than they should!! A 30 second timer usually lasts 30 seconds to 1 minute! So why bother having a timer if you have compact banners? lol

It must be something new...because the number of times I have something try and download in the last week while reading paid e-mails is huge...I have windows set up, that NOTHING downloads without me accepting it...maybe that is the way to go........If your computer is set up to accept down;loads, that is not good anyway.....Even if webmasters remove these......you are risk from other sources......I am running XP which is by far the safest windows yet.
I also run start up monitor, which is a tiny program, that asks me when ever a program wants to run at start up, so if ever anything gets thru.....I get a message from the program...and can say wether to let it start up or not....It is an excellent program.

I believe Best Paid Mail has something like this as well. Yesterday, I had to hit ctrl alt delete.. it stopped, then started itself again.. I repeated it.. it stopped .. then started loading again for the third time. I was a bit upset. I didn't realize that it was ok to download programs on others' computers without permission.
I'm so glad you all posted the sites you've had these concerns with as I'm going to avoid these sites for a bit, until they get rid of these things.
Thank you!

The ultimate browser enhancer. A dl window pops up. Very annoying, and I did dl the thing several weeks ago, my pc never been the same since. Some kind of browser which acts like a little dictator on your machine; takes over everything.
Don't download!
I can't find the culprit, it pops in every once in a while and I'm not sure what sites it's from.
Xupiter is the search engine it uses-it's evil. Don't use!!
Kristin
Nov 12 2002, 05:46 PM
I deleted Xupiter from my computer and Browerwise disappeared!! I wonder if that was what I had? It exchanged my search engine (google) for it's own.
People be careful - I know a lot of you have kids on here, and it's so easy to get distracted by one, turn around and you wouldn't have even known you've downloaded it.

Not always. I have seen some Chinese sites on traffic exchanges that try to download spyware toolbars and lots of other garbage. I've caught tons of Russian sites trying to load various little trojans too.

All webmasters should get rid of 7 Search because it is also full of scumware as well which would spy on what you are doing.

I got a new one today called intelegent explorer and in the properties section it had
the information below so I am guessing it came from paidntrade
this one you have to use and uninstall and also must changed your registry settings
because it has an area to click on that can set your registry back to the way it was before it installed its self with out permission. here is the uninstall area if anyone else gets this one.
http://www.ieplugin.com/uninstall2.htmlI am not sure if I should resert the registry what if they are downloading somethign else ?

will this work even after it has installed itself? I have never had this problem until recently now I have both xupiter and intellegent browser on here and neither asked permission to download

with IE go to tools, internet options, security - click on custom level - for each option choose enable, disable or if you are not sure prompt then click OK (you will have to do this for each zone).
you can also download a program here to help cleanup your registry
http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/shtml/regcleaner.shtml . Some things you will recognize and can easily delete. If you see something you are not sure about
don't delete it until you do know what it is. Create a restore point or backup if possible before editing anything. Everytime you run this program, after the 1st time, it will tell you what new things have been added to your computer so you can catch them quick.

re: spyscumware
best free trojan etc. removal tool is adaware
www.adaware.dk
once program is installed go back to website and download update to adaware folder then unzip it
delete internet cache, delete cookies then run adaware
will find & delete registry & file based torjan/spy/scumware, run hourly and/or after each internet session catches all the garbage youve been discussing,
website owners should make sure they have a clean system, goto their own website, click a few things and all paid to click, delete cache & cookies and run adaware. will tell you if you have a clean site or not. ive found problems in a lot of paid to click banners too. website owners should also test all paid email sites before sending out emails to members. i know this is a lot of work for gptr owners but members will appreciate the effort.
p.s. some antivirus programs do not catch trojans
a public service announcement
1 cent donations to my e-gold 592118 happily appreciated
