hmmm what if all program owners were to raise the value of a link to 5 cents .advertising would cost more ,but the value of your ad would be worth more making advertising more worth while.not only that but if thier were a sign up fee at every program and they had a commission set up over so many levels it would raise more advertisers.not saying that sign up fee should be more than 3.00 though.i guess what i am trying to say is that we get pennies a day right now.if we raise the prices of links, advertising, and no more free to join then we could start making dollars a day.the industry is falling lets bring it back.one last thing payouts what if every program were to pay automaticaly at the end of the month with no minium.it would raise more interest in the industry as well.

this is the ideal situation and yes i am tempted to agree with everything u wrote coz it sounds so good and perfect but what about the cheaters?Every time someone comes up with a nice little way of making sure the members benefit from a program, someone somewhere screws things up by trying to cheat..how do u combat that? How do u create a perfect gptr and still manage to stop the cheaters dead in their tarcks?

im not sure but maybe if all program owners were to have a meeting place where they view each day.they can post an ip address of a cheater and then all programs can block that ip adress indefinetly and the cheater forfiets all earnings from every program.like a program owner club just for that and they can have a logo on thier site saying they are a member of the no cheaters club.or something similar.

The problem with blocking an IP address is that many other genuine members may use that same IP address. You also have the issue of IP addresses changing everytime you dial-up.

It's a nice idea to all band together, and there has been something along those lines suggested in the past. Implementing it is another matter - we can try but the ways round things that cheaters come up with are un-ending.

The original idea as nze said, would be great in an ideal world. I would love to be able to increase link values, but I am currently finding that I need to reduce advertising costs as no-one is buying. I think the main problem is not the cost, but the vast number of places people can go to advertise - there are absolutely hundreds and hundreds of companies on the internet selling advertising and more joining the community every day. There just aren't enough advertisers to go round.

The sign-up fee idea - yes it would be a good way of reducing cheaters, but I think it would also reduce the number of members signing up - not that many people in this business want to risk any money - or anyone anywhere I guess.

If you need help stopping cheaters, please let me know (via email).

I would very much like to see more sites do something about cheating... With scripts the way they are currently it's far too easy... It's almost like asking people to cheat.

As nze mentioned... cheaters are one of the main reasons for low rates... Second only to that fact that there are 100's of generic paid email sites out there.

My suggestion is that each of you focus on making one site really good instead of running multiple, almost identical, sites. Unfortunately no one listens to that suggestion which is too bad cuz it's an entirely altruistic one ;-) If you're going to branch out, buy different kinds of sites, not 3 paid emails.

This is so true.....my IP changes each and every time I log in. Does that make me a cheater?? No, just a poor soul using dial-up ab.gif

I agree with Ian. As many of you know I have branched out. I started with DividendMails, then added in order GoudaSearch.com, ExitPaid.com, SearchBotz.com and finally Search4Search.com. The last being a PTR site but I thought I would try something different being that it only sends out search links and the members only earn advertising to send out their own search links. I knew this wouldnt be a HUGE membership based site but to my surprise since I have opened I have sold more advertising there then I have for DividendMails for the last 4 months!
You have to find a niche...something that isnt filled and Lord knows there are too many PTR sites all doing about the same thing.

SearchBotz has been very successful as well both for myself and for the members because I pretty much knew by reading posts that people who joined search engine affiliate programs wanted to join the ones with the lowest payout, that had a fair percentage for earnings and were paying. So I decided to offer monthly payouts with no minimum and in the two weeks or so we have been open we have 525 (at the time of this post) members and some earnings very well at over $20. I knew if I offered all the things people wanted they would join and stay plus spread the word and thats happening.

The PTR industry just is tapped out unless you come up with a niche ...something different that nobody else has...but at this point thats pretty difficult since everyone is doing almost the same thing. Plus like Ian said the sites are pretty generic. As the saying goes to make $$ you have to spend $$ as Ian also can attest to because I had him alter my scripts at SearchBotz and of course had to pay him for it aa.gif...a very fair price I might add. If you dont know HTML then pay someone who does to change what the sites look like. Look at the big business sites and see how their sites are laid out. I can tell you they arent FULL of search affiliate boxes pop ups TONS of images so the page loads like tomorrow for those on dial up etc etc. These sites are a business and if you want to attract advertisers then you have to spend $$ yourself on advertising OUTSIDE of the PTR industry. Pay to have a professional site like Verica submit your site to the search engines...etc etc. You cant have a nickel and dime site and expect to make a dollar it doesnt work that way...well I can think of one exception ClickityCash and 1Heluva...they need HTML redesign BIG time but they are doing well.

Anyways the bottom line is the webmasters if they are serious better be prepared to spend some $$ to have a good site and I dont just mean the scripts I mean the design too. Thats just my 2...uumm well maybe 4 cents worth aa.gif

Good point. Wish I could come up with the money.

I do agree about diversifying. It's one reason I started uppity, to get a group together so that we could diversify TOGETHER. Hasn't happened yet, but it will.
