My DH works on post so pretty sure this is legit.. this is the email he sent me this morning that he had recieved~
FYI
Although most of us are at work during the hours of UPS deliveries, this
is good information to pass along to your stay at home friends, parents
and other family members. Especially those of us who have children home
alone after school or those of you that have businesses.
UPS ALERT
Please pass this around.
Government Warning regarding purchase of UPS uniforms:
There has been a huge purchase, $32,000 worth, of United Parcel
Service (UPS) uniforms on eBay over the last 30 days. This could represent a
serious threat as bogus drivers (terrorists) can drop off anything to
anyone with deadly consequences!
If you have ANY questions when a UPS driver appears at your door,
they should be able to furnish VALID I.D.
Additionally, if someone in a UPS uniform comes to make a drop off
or pick up, make absolutely sure they are driving a UPS truck.
UPS does not make deliveries or pickups in anything, except a
company vehicle.
If you have a problem, IMMEDIATELY call your local law enforcement
agency right away! TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY!
Tell everyone in your office, your family, your friends, etc. Make
people aware so that we can prepare and/or avoid terrorist attacks on
our people!
Thank you for your time in reviewing this and PLEASE send to
EVERYONE on your list, even if they are friend or foe. We should all
be aware!

It's United Postal Service not Parcel. Atleast where I am, and they wear ID badges here as well. I'm also fairly certain it's illegal to sell postal uniforms, but I'd have to ask my dad.

Nope, this one IS United PARCEL Service. It's like Federal Express, only cheaper. They drive brown trucks and wear brown uniforms.
And while most of this isn't all true, there have been instances of different uniformed people posing as employees of services like this for years. It ALWAYS pays to request ID on anyone coming to your door, and not to allow people into your house unless you're positive. Legitimate services also don't mind you closing and locking the door, with the person's id in your hand and calling them, either. Just in case.

I forgot about UPS, don't see them much around here but I do know to get outta their way when I do see one of them mofo's in my rearview. They drive like a bat outta ###### so I assume they don't get paid by the hour.

They do get paid hourly, but they are heavily monitored. They have people do spot checks secretly following them, routes are timed, etc.

This is kind of scary for me. I live on a military base. Now those lil suckers could get on/off base as much as they want. I don't like that plan, let's get a new one...

I work for FedEx as a Tech Analyst and UPS is not at all cheaper our list prices are exactly the same as mandated by the US government soneither company can undercut the Post Office.
What you are thinking about is that UPS only ships ground and Fedex only ships overnight packages. In recent years both companies have been pushing ground into the other one's staple core of businesses.
There is now FedEx ground which has been pushing our stock up and giving me those nice yearly bonuses. Its just that Fedex ground for the meantime is mainly for business to homes, or business to business only.
Just some info as I feel I had to defend my company from the "Fedex is more expensive" myth
