"Thus, an important preparatory task that these agents have to perform and are indeed capable of performing is the gathering of all the necessary information and its analysis where this is necessary." (this is a sentence I wrote for my thesis)

Please revise/correct so as to be in perfect english

GRL's version is more to the point, which is good. But if you had wanted to stress on the capability of the agents, then you need the commas.
