This is what happened and I just feel the need to share. It could have been much worse, I'm very thankful it wasn't and that no one was hurt, but still ........

My daughter, driving my old car, pulled into our driveway and lost her brakes. This caused her to plow through my garage door and hit the rear end of my son's car (which is still in my name). Again, thank god neither she nor my grandson was hurt. But I now have a damaged garage door and 2 damaged vehicles.

In all the years I've had auto and home insurance, I have never had any reason to file a claim. Now in one day and one incident, I have 3 damages to contend with ohmy.gif The worst part, I have $250 deductible on home insurance and $500 deductible with liability only on each vehicle. I've paid my insurance company thousands and thousands in premiums over the years, yet now when I need it I'm told the only thing covered is any cost over $250 to my door, nothing on the cars.

I've decided (like my opinion matters) that all premiums for home and auto insurance a person pays should go into an insurance account to only be used for that person's claims. The only out of pocket expense when you have a claim would be if you had not paid enough in premiums into your account to cover the expenses. Sounds fair to me, but I'm probably not being objective right now.

Anyone have any similar stories to share?

Thanks for listening!
