for the second time in less then a half year i heard off death threads towards a WM

Now it doesn't matter to whom they are directed. (i am not going into that)

I think this is very bad!!

Members who do this should be blacklisted and removed from every other program an banned for live for everything that has to to with ptr.

Yes we all are angry at one or the other WM now and then.

Just quit the program or post a complaint here. Or try to resolve it in a decent member. I have had some problems to here and there, always got them sorted out. and if that was impossible i quit the program.

I lost money too like more people here, actualy the only thing lost is clicking time.

BUT DEATH THREADS?? sad.gif

ABSOLUTLY NOT DONE TO NO ONE NO WHERE NEVER!! mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

LETS ALL PUT THIS TO A STOP!!!! RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW!!!

HAHA.........biguow you're not a stupid dutchman!
But you are right death threat are so silly! There are ways to vent your anger and take action without threatening anyones life!

It just shows how unstable their mind is!

Have a great night! biggrin.gif

*Sigh* I agree, it;s getting very annoying, some unhappy members sending offensive emails, threathening with all kinds of stuff.

Scaring webmasters, their kids or family.....it seems to become more common then it should be.

I agree, let the webmasters make a blacklist and ban those users from the PTR-business.

CTM-John
Hi biguow,

You're totally right. people think that we are god or something.
That's whu we have included in all our programs in Terms and Conditions, that if ppl do so, they will loose their account.

Maybe a radical way, but webmasters are human too and can make mistakes
BeezyClickin
I will have to agree with biguow here. Sending threatening emails is very inappropriate and you never know when to take people like this seriously. Unfortunately we have some crazy people in this world.

Emails of that nature, along with emails sent to with vulgar language mad.gif result in a members account being terminated on my site.

I'd like to see webmasters get together and try to stop these people who feel like it's okay to do such things.
patmama3
Death threats are unacceptable in ANY form to ANY person for ANY reason!

Pretty scary that someone is that unstable!
marieriggins112
Why don't someone take a pole here and see how most think. I think most would agree that it should be stop maybe the GPF can be the first to end it by making a ban list for such actions. If they can tell if a person is honest or not. by checking more then just their IP address then They should be able to stop them from join up again in a new name.

Death threats are like suicide threats. You do not want to disregard them. Someone crazy enough to send a death threat over a ptr account just may be crazy enough to do something....They should be reported to the police.
kglaser
nthisit, I think you are right!!
It should regarded as the serious matter that it is, then maybe this totally inappropriate behavior would stop mad.gif
I mean, I can understand losing one's temper on here--been guilty of it myself, more than once--but death threats?? No pun intended, but talk about overkill...
Tigress8u
One WM's children was threatened in an email a while back, all because the member of site THOUGHT the WM had deleted his account.

It turned out the account wasn't deleted, but the WM deleted it after the member threatened WM's kids sad.gif

Very sick

It's really bad! mad.gif

Hi All

I just have to place my 2 pennies in here too... lol. I agree that terristic threats are somewhat childish in this area of daily living that everyone calls cyberspace...lol.. But Can anyone think of what tops even that? laugh.gif laugh.gif dry.gif
The fact that by being online, most of us be it program owners, programmers, designers and yes even the loyal PTRE society, we actually do choose to be online clicking for pennies... yes I know what alot of ppl do say.. but in REALITY PPL , I can't think of anyone that could actually pay thier everyday REAL LIFE expenses with everything that is actually made and paid in a years time, so therefore most CHOOSE to be active in cyberspace, correct? So, What is even the crown of the threats, knowing that wasted breath by totally BORED children, because that is how immature they are acting, laugh.gif , is the fact that it all over just a few PENNIES!!! honestly think about it, yeah alot have gotten paid proberly a grand total of $1000 in one years time... (over exaggerating I might add..lol) I knw that $1500 per month can't cover all my real life expenses, so that measly amount per yr sure as ###### wouldn't began to support my family and my lifes living.. so its just PENNIES that they are willing to risk freadom over... HAHAHAHAHAHA I think that if those children woiuld find something else better to do like "school attendance" real jobs, lol... or better yet, couseling for being just totally WACKED...lol.. then maybe the rest of us wouldn't have to tolerate all the bull to handle what good we are tying to do.... :>)
Sorry long winded, but man some ppl in this world really p's me off ...
Have a GRAND Week...

An older thread mentioned a similar topic and in that particular the thread this forum defended the person making the threats. I am curious what has changed the opinion now?

There are all sorts of Nuts out there.........we are bound to run into them on line too.......Even More so ohmy.gif
trayse
actually, yes ... i'm quite used to it. it's definitely upsetting, but i've learned it's part of the job. you see how bad it gets around here, so you can imagine what goes on in private emails. at this point, i only get emotional about such things an average of once a week. not too bad. wink.gif

*edited for typos*
MandyMooCow
Dana ohmy.gif mad.gif that terrible!!!!

Trayse, getting emotional once a week would be more than enough for me...I take my hat off to you both! And all the other wm's

Has anyone thought to call the law!!! Come on guys, wise up....this is not silly nor childish, it is against the law. Do something about it beside post here. I think the FBI would take the time to track these ppl down and do something about it.
biguow
you know what strikes me.

If someone puts up a complaint here about a webmaster there are about a 1000 people shouting murder!!

But for all these fine people it seems not important that webmasters are being threatened.

Where are you now???

it doesnt matter if you agree with a wm or don't like the wm
IT IS JUST NOT DONE!!!

AND YES IT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE!!

I've also been on the receiving end of threats/harrassment.. they even went so far as to hassle me through another site I work out by sending anon mails through the support link

these people seem to think that we deserve it therefore we should all sit back and take it

it IS upsetting and its little wonder that webmasters up and sell (what a surprise the reason isn't always debt related)

Look at the property of the mail - set your email program to show you "full headers".

There will be at least one (probably two) email addresses in there, or parts of email addresses and web addresses.

Here is a sample to show you:

Return-Path: <user_name@yahoo.com>
Received: from web42003.mail.netscape.com (web49503.mail.aol.com [66.111.222.111])
by mail012.YOURisp.com.au (8.9.4r1/8.3.6) with SMTP id i2U5404rrL19
for <salteh@YOURisp.com.au>; Tue, 30 Mar 2004 15:53:53 +1000
Message-ID: <20040330055351.15981.qmail@web41903.mail.aol.com>
Received: from [203.33.33.222] by web19003.mail.yahoo.com via HTTP; Mon, 29 Mar 2004 21:53:51 PST
Date: Mon, 29 Mar 2004 21:53:51 -0800 (PST)

Subject: Re: Good looking bunch....

MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="0-53158866-1080697031=:14276"

If you look at the addresses in BOLD - what you should do is contact these ISPs.

Forward the whole message, including the header, to all of these addresses, for every ISP you find:

webmaster@
support@
tos@
spam@
help@

with each isp on the end (for example tos@yahoo.com and so on). Add a message at the very beginning asking for this user to be deleted for the offensive spam. Hopefully their ISP will treat it with the same disgust as you.

there is a simple solution

IF A MEMBER DOES THIS

DELETE HIM/HER. POST HERE IN FORUM HIS/HER COMPLETE BIOGRAFIE.

people who do this to other people should be banned from all the programs , gpf and all ptr related issues

no ecxuses!!

you just DON'T threaten somebody or somebodies childen/relatives.

sorry Trayse

although i am also not happy the way things are going at your sites death threats it should never be part of the job.

I have as a member the right to be angry about things happening.
I can start a discussion about it, or even file a complaint at some police office about it.

but NEVER anyone HAS THE RIGHT to threaten you or you relatives.

you should not accept this kind of abuse!!!!

You could get problem though. What exactly should be considered a threat. We all know about all the posts yelling SCAM while when you read it there;s nothing wrong and there is no scam at all.

Posting names/nicks etc can backfire also. Maybe it's better to circulate a 'closed' blacklist among WM's who'd like to ban certain users.
elise64
if you save the email and go 2 this sight that I have listed in my post you can stop the threats it is illeagal!!!! go 2 this post you can file a formal complaint http://www.getpaidforum.com/forums/index.p...howtopic=157411 hope this helps

VERY good idea, i don't understand people, i guess. It's so much easier to unsub than to get ones self that upset, to threaten someone? Just escapes me.... blink.gif

there is a site called the Internet Fraud Complaint Center https://www.ifccfbi.gov where you can actually register complaints. This site is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C). They are the real deal. You may also check with ISAAF: they have a list of contacts where you can report a fraudulent company. Here is a link to the page: http://www.isaaf.com/contacts.shtml.
try here 2 report the death threats

a DEATH threat is what we are tallking about here.

Not a member getting angry or abusive, TOS deals with this.

But if one person threatenes another person or another persons relatives life, no excuses.

There is simply no excuse for that.

at least i can find one good reason. sad.gif

Do some of you actually read before you post? These are death threats, not SCAM threats or whatever else you want to call them. Everytime a WM gets these they should be reported to the police. Unfortunately, most do not. They send their babies off to school with the life goes on attitude. No big Whoop. And that is what scares me the most.
Hugs,
Kim (who is very thankful I don't have a ptr)

Well, I do run a PTR.

And, ofcourse, mails threatening WM's and/or familymembers are absolutely not tolerable. In my case, if this happens to me, those users get deleted immediattely.

I wouldn't post his/her name, bio etc in this forum though. I'll blacklist them and give the names to fellow-WM's, that's all. My perception of a threat (death or otherwise) could be different then the perception of a fellow WM, that's all I tried to clearify in my earlier posting.

Has nothing to do with not reading the posts wink.gif Maybe my earlier post wasn't clear enough.
