I found this reply totally offensive for asking why I couldn't log in. I belong to 73 different sites and I am supposed to remember the exact date & time a site is down?

Do members actually read the emails we send out?????????????????????????????????

My sincere apologies to those members who bother to read the emails, but I am totally fed up with writing the same things over and over again.

Lets try and cover this with one email -

All the 38 members who wrote on the 13th and 14th of October to tell me they couldn't login - well - I have only just got your emails because as we said in our 'VERY VERY IMPORTANT' email on the 12th October - WE WERE CHANGING SERVERS!!

AS A RESULT OF THE SERVER CHANGE THERE WAS A PERIOD THAT THE ACCOUNTS WOULD NOT WORK!!!

QUOTE FROM THE EMAIL ON THE 12TH:

>>>>>>>""Over the next 24-48 hours we are changing hosts. What does this mean to you?

IT MEANS THAT IF YOU CLICK THROUGH ANY LINKS OR EDIT YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION DURING THE NEXT 24-48 HOURS IT WILL NOT BE RECORDED.

PLEASE DO NOT USE YOUR ACCOUNTS IN ANY WAY FOR THE NEXT 24-48 HOURS - THAT WAY YOU WILL NOT RISK LOSING ANY EARNINGS ETC.""<<<<<<<<<

I really do apologise to the members who bothered to read the email, but I have had enough of repeating myself over and over with the same words.

Those members who have genuinely got a problem with their account I will reply to but please give me a little time to do so, I have got a million other things happening and I am trying to work through things in date order that they come in to me.

I am sorry I have had to write this, and I know I will receive dozens of abusive emails as a result, but it had to be said.

Thank you for taking the time to read this email.

Quit complaining. The webmaster warned her members of what is going to happened, and you refuse to read the warnings? Then I would be ###### as well to the members who have not read my e-mails if I owned a GPTR program.

There have been a lot of complaints about rude webmasters lately. They are human, but then again SO ARE THE MEMBERS!

Well there has to be some give/take on both ends. Theres a craze of people buying business's for hobby/part time use only. Most of us are used to companies where there are more than 1 employee. Most of the part time webmasters have lives too, and whenever we send out a mailing, and someone then asks what you just sent out in the mailing, it can be very annoying. Most companies have trained customer support personnel that can take it on the chin, and they'll answer you anyway. Most of us who operate these business's have had no training, and you tend to see more webmasters being themselves, rather than the soft glove support treatment. To some, this is just unprofessional. Although we are just normal individuals who use the web, people expect alot from us, and there just isnt much money in PTR anymore. Some are staying in PTR as webmasters because they enjoy their work, its not always about the money, and thats how I felt when I started out, but after a while, I got sick of it, the way people would expect things from me, and the way I would get treated. Thats why I run a search engine instead, and I seem to be enjoying that much more than PTR. We're seeing alot more moms or dads purchasing these sites, without training, maybe we could just try being easier on the poor webmasters, and then maybe we wont drive them out ad.gif

As a member, I also feel that sometimes what webmasters say, is inappropriate, but its more out of emotion, and I can understand it from being an ex ptr webmaster. as well as from the member angle. I just think now with the way its easy to be able to buy a PTR, that maybe our expectations shouldnt be as high as they are.

If the site was still online, but members couldn't log in,
they should have a message on the site itself reminding
members that they would not be able to log in. If an e-mail
message is sent to members telling them that, but there
is no explanation on the site itself, members who
sign up after the e-mail is sent will not know why.
