I have driven for a long time and have recently changed from a van to a car. Tonight was raining for the first time for ages and the windsceen was a little misted etc. I started to turn right into a gas station and something made me look again. There was a car with NO HEADLIGHTS on, dark in colour, almost impossible to see. I saw it in time and honked my horn at him, he may not have realised why, but man that was close and would have been very severe.

I've had stuff similar happen. I turned onto my street one evening and I had to turn left across the other lane and there was a car coming and I didn't see it b/c they didn't have any head lights on. Didn't come close to getting hit or anything, but it was fairly close. I drove once with only my running lights on b/c I went onto the military base and I had to turn off my headlights at the gate and I forgot to turn them back on and I was driving around the base without headlights lol. I always turn my lights on, except during the summer days b/c I live in Washington and its usually overcast and stuff anyway. So its a habit just like putting on my seatbelt to turn on my headlights also. Better be safe than sorry.
What really irritates me about headlights though is when people change a headlight and they don't do it right and its pointing straight ahead instead of down so its like the bright lights and its so freakin bright. And the other light will be dimmer. I wish people would just learn to change the lights properly or have it done right so they aren't blinding everyone else. People really don't need such bright headlights to where you think they have their bright lights on.
