I have been looking for the 'Sleeping Beauty' Chronicles by Anne Rice (written as A.N. Rolequare) and I cant find a single stockist in South Africa.

Has anyone read any of them? Its going to cost me a bit to get them shipped to SA and I want to know if they are worth all the hassle!

Anne Rice is famous for her 'Interview with a Vampire' series of books, I am busy reading 'Merrick' right now smile.gif I highly recomment her books!

'Belinda' was also great, just a warning it is erotica so if you arent into that kind of thing then you wont enjoy it!

Thanx erikals88! I have read the reviews, here and everywhere else, I was just hoping there was a real live person here who could tell me what they thought of it, not that the reviews arent done by real people, but...I dont know! I want to know if it is worth it to spend every cent I have in my E-Gold for these books since I have been wanting them forever! rolleyes.gif

I have read them. You will enjoy them if you are into romantic punishment (The husband spanks the wife in public and stuff like that) They are also kind of dark. I really don't like that sort of thing but I read them because I love Anne Rice.

How much is it going to cost you at Amazon? Maybe somebody can help you find a better deal. Although I'm assuming that its the postage costs to South Africa that are the bulk of the cost.

Good luck,

Wil

Mandy - I read them a long, long time ago - when I was reading everything that Anne Rice had written. They are good, but my all time favorite book of her's will always be "The Witching Hour".

Crazygirlnmbr1, with Anne Rice I find there is always so much more to her books than what is physically happening - she has such a wonderful way with words. Belinda was about a 16yr old girl and a 40-something man, and it was wonderful although many would frown on such a thing! I wouldnt; I think love knows no boundaries - age, race, religion etc.

Wil, it will cost me at least $100 for the cost of the books as well as p&p if I got them second-hand. Thank you for your pm!!

Cheri, I havent read 'The Witching Hour' yet, I do read every Anne Rice I can get my hands on. They are pretty scarce.

Its my b'day in March, maybe I can twist my husbands arm! rolleyes.gif

Is it one of the Vampire Books?

Ok Cheri - I think I'm going to find out where I can get a whole lot of Anne Rice books and just ship them together at one expense!

Now to find the money - lol! tongue.gif

Hi

Have you tried a search with the title of the book and the author's name?

Just tried one on Google and looked at a few sites. You would be amazed at the number that came up - some are selling new and some second hand - you can also find out how much the postage costs so you can compare them and work out which one is the best value.

Good luck.

No, not one of the Vampire books. You'll love it though. Classic Anne Rice... smile.gif

anne rice is a great author. i loved the interview series. i've lost respect for her however, because she shut down all fanfic involving her works. i read fanfic obsessivly, and it's a dissapointment when this happens. writers should feel honored that people think so highly of their characters that they want to expand them and prolong others entertainment.

i just felt like ranting, feel free to ignore me. laugh.gif

Thanx wannabe, I have done that - extensively! rolleyes.gif

I will be sure to get it Cheri! I'm almost finished with 'Merrick' at the moment!

resascup, Anne Rice is odd at the best of times tongue.gif

Hi!

I read the whole series a few years back. Yes it is very erotic and has it's dark moments. Without ruining it for you: It's about a woman who is totally dependent on a man because she's so in love with him. He controls her and abuses her mostly mentally. The physical stuff like crazygirlnmbr1 stated was done to humiliate her and also to illustrate to the reader certain sexual fetishes drive men. I have to admit that part of it gets a little heavy. In later books in the series the woman learns to value herself and her self esteem builds to the point where she learns to depend on herself and to love herself. She no longer needs a man to validate her. It's a beautifully and erotically dark story but also a story of a woman's complete triumph. I highly recommend this series. Well worth the price.

Thank you sweetgrandma - it is the mental aspect of the story that I am interested in; Anne Rice in my opinion is a master at exploring those sides of the human mind that many people like to pretend isnt there - I have personally grown as a person through reading her books! cool.gif
