I have a issue why do all the GOOD PTR websites look like poo :\
Like April's Gold. A lot of these could get a nicer look.
Meh,
-J.
arben
I think all PTR's should have their own 'unique' design to it. Every PTR that I visit has basically the same thing.

But it doesn't really bother me..

Nonono I mean colors and layouts. Black with Purple dosent work for me. It's also a lot of Frames and blacks no integrated graphics.
CarlyK
I think there is a perfectly good reason for it, and I do also believe that APril had addressed this a while back... as far as "good ptrs" i am not sure what you mean, but, the reason that these sites may not have good designs is because of the large memberbase!

WIth 20,000 members, you don't want to overload the site with graphics and what not as not all members have fast internet connections, some are using dialup, and a layout like that could cause slow loading times for these members and frustrate them!

A simple design like April has is perfect and caters to all members, while not causing loading time delays.
pantaloonies
And I always thought April Golds was one of the prettier ones, lol.

Another "good one" is that AYS... fuuuuglay! wink.gif

More graphics would hog up too much bandwidth though, and sites with huge memberships have enough server problems to deal with as-is.

PTR read sites need to be ugly for some reason,
nothing to do with traffic...

The ones I hate are the ones that say "COMPANY NAME HERE" in the upper left corner.

Like I would join a site that launches before figuring out how to get the site name there first ....... NOT.

many of You have speed PC's but some don't
some sites are simple and somem more compicated for decoding for display, expecially site with huge picture in background....

Awww, your site isn't ugly!

Frankly, I really don't care what a site looks like. Beauty is only skin deep. Give me a site that pays with a good PO who is fair and they will have me as a member. (I do look for a good speller too though tongue.gif )

I find it funny that a member with 2 posts to his/her name already knows all good PTR websites and their designs by heart. Maybe you were doing PTR long before coming here but don't you think you should try and look out for the things that really matter before mouthing off on trivial matters? Who cares if a site is ugly/nice/beautiful/oh it hurts, my eyes, my eyes/etc etc...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Thankfully I'm colorblind. I see everything black and white...

Every PTR must have its own unique design and style.
April is OK but bondjamesbond and AYS urghhhhh.

WowEarnings and onedollaremail have excellent designs and i think all ptrs should have different designs like these.

I find this a little cruel-especially to April

For example, webmasters may choose to skimp on the elaborate designs for many reasons. Here's a few---

1-They don't like a "busy" look

2-They didn't have the knowledge to do an "elaborate" design themselves but didn't want to spend that money when they felt using it to keep the business afloat was a better option

3-They planned on growing LARGE because they plan on doing things right. They realize that a very elaborate site design can cost extra bandwidth.

4-They realize that not everyone is on DSL/cable and wanted to be user friendly.

5-They figure colors and pictures aren't what makes a good site--the way they manage it is.

If this is all you can find to complain about in the PTR/PTC industry you are doing very well. Most of the rest of us are more worried about the PTR companies that took off with our money.

Tiff

PS-As for April's her site could be any color in the world-even zebra striped and it would not matter to me. She's paid me, I'm at payout again and she's good to her members. **THAT** is what is important.

Actually I know only a few sites. But I do web designs as a profession. happy.gif
NepaRock
Also, Not even so much graphics heavy. I know a site is mainly on content. But once you build it up and have your member database and a steady stream of advertisers. I just see you could spend a little more time on the design. But it's all good. happy.gif
(And April yours isent that bad I was jsut using you as a example casue I know you are popular happy.gif)
Sorry/Thanks,

My site's kind of "different" looking...LOL...and my membership keeps disappearing even though I'm friendly, and try to get as many ads to send as possible without giving members money I don't have to pay them... blink.gif

Edited to add...'77 Mail is my baby.
freebiesite

while i agree many of the sites look the same, what bothers me are the really "sloppy" sites..ie, one is cheerfully offering a "valuable gold" membership CHRISTMAS CONTEST....LOL....time to take the christmas graphics down... ouch

other sites have typo's or obviously "bad" english... still others have not even attempted to vary the template... "company name here"..."place links here"....

jmo sites that are this unprofessional and sloppy make ya go "hmmmmmmmm"
NepaRock
Yah, I know what you mean with a lot of that. I'd be willing to make all you PTR guys some simple NON Graphics heavy websites. (For free)
If you want that is I'll jsut amke some and you can use them as you wish.

I dont think there is any paid site here on the forum
that has more traffic them mine.
So telling its for the datatraffic is not a good excuse.

Not that I am a good designer.... not at all but I do have taste.
All my designs are made by a designer so my sites look more professional and people dont get punished by looking at my designs...

A good looking site makes its money back...
Real advertisers dont go to sites like this...

And thats where this post was all about I think.

This design isnt not good, its not just about the colours when making a design...
Lets post this on a designers forum.
I will give 5$ to everyone that rates this one above +

There is actually one site that I quit, simply because I couldn't stand the site design. It was extremely hard to navigate and the colors made me edgy every time I was on the site.

laugh.gif I think that's cause PO don't know how to change design (read don't know how to make desing and/or how to use some good templates) and they don't want (or can't) pay designer to make site design. Bad desing are BIG red flag for me to see that PO don't know how to run business.
chris35
Well im gonna change the record LOL the whole CCNetwork is under going a whole new revamp to bring in fresh blood to the site (+ i picked up a super deal) But i think a design does matter! But sites like applemails, who have used a template and tried to fit it looks very bad!!

sites like aprils i think looks great!! And ays has always been known for simplicity and i think its design reflects that.

And i agree with dutchtraffic, using hosting as an excuse is bad because its not, dollar-mail.com has been redesigned and has 11,100+ members and it only cost me $0.75 more after the design was fitted!!

Thanx chriscool

Yes, I sure will. I will bbe making a series of designs and after finding the right palce to post them I will. Heh. Also, for anyone that wants some more grahpic heavy websites. (Pre-made not by me) I got 50 Full PSD photoshop sites I bought of eBay with full resell rights. If your interested I'll sell'em for like $5. I bought'em for $25. So selling them cheaper keeps it alive I hope. happy.gif

Personally, I couldn't care less about how a site looks, as long as they let me make a lot of money tongue.gif

Nothing Better To do I suppose.

Honestly I like my site...I designed it myself and think It Rocks!!!

Eye catchy and somewhat different. Gold....because my middle name is Gold. Only makes since.

I did say that I like being ugly.....only because I like being different.

As for redesigning it...yes I probably will one of these days not no time soon.
