I am getting so tired of doing searches and being told my IP is a proxy, or that I am clicking with two IP's
I am going to say this once, I have ONE IP, NOT TWO, NOT THREE, NOT EVEN FOUR, BUT ONE!!!!
My internet account offers proxy if I choose to have that, but I am told by my service provider that I do not have a proxy, it is not selected in my browser settings, I am not behind a firewall.
And I would tend to believe what my service provider says over what some faulty IP checker says.
These search engine's who are using these IP checker program's are ruining it for their searcher's and for the customer's that want their sites seen. How do they excpect an advertiser to get visitor's to their site this way if a person can't even do an honest search? mad.gif

Sorry you cannot search, your IP is a proxy. This account is not blocked, only your IP. Please contact your ISP to learn why your IP is proxy and what you must do to try and resolve it.

And again .... search engine owners disallowing all proxies, regardless if they're good or bad .... coming banging my head against the wall with you Charmeyn and just like you, feeling sorry for the members of those search engines wink.gif

Well all I can say is that a lot of advertiser's are going to turn to those old standard search engine's like Excite, Lycos and what not, if they are not getting the results they want from these paid search engine's. And would less likely get their sites noticed. If I was advertising on a paid search engine, I wouldn't be so picky about who my visitor's are or where they come from; that, I think , is also the problem. Who cares if an advertiser has a product that they only sell in their country, who's to say that someone from another country isn't planning on vacationing in the advertiser's country and just wants to know of things he can buy there? Makes no sense to me , all this descrepency. I'm from Canada, and sometimes I like to know what I can buy in the U.S, and it would be foolish for an advertiser to turn away a potential customer, that's the whole Idea about advertising, it's not a gaurantee that someone's going to buy something, but how would you know if you don't get the message out?
I belong to Christianbooks.com and I sent out a paid ad for 1000 visits, through Kitcatcash just before Christmas and only one person bought something, but even that one person out of 1000 counts, because they saw my ad. I just got a check today for $5 and I'm happy

I think that all those advertiser's who spend all their money utilizing search engine's should invest their money in paid emails, they would probably stand a better chance of getting their products out to the public, and maybe even sell somethig smile.gif

Hi,

i am kinda wondering wich searchengine give notes like that.

My engine does not give that note to anyone, wether on proxy or not, and as far as i know most engines using the same script are not giving that either, are you sure it is not the new feature on the myecom script giving that notice instead of the engine?
I am not trying to make you look bad or anything, just curious where the note comes from.

sincerely

I always thought that the internet was a means for advertiser's to reach more customer's on a global scale? So why are they limiting themselves by who finds them via search engine's? Sending out their ads by way of internet is certainly a lot cheaper than having a flyer printed out and mailed, or printed in a newspaper, which most times only gets used as bird cage liner's or puppy potty training tools smile.gif

I can understand Joe's Supermarket in the USA not wanting clickers in the UK, because 99.9999% of them will never set foot in Joe's store.

These search engines have TWO sets of customers - the clickers and the advertisers. Without meeting the needs of the advertisers they are toast. That's life.

(I also am not behind a proxy. I get those silly messages ad nauseum too. Sombody fix the software already.)

I think proxy blocking is really very stupid, are there are 100's of ISPs who use proxy servers, also many companies have their users on a proxy. These are closed proxies, and it is almost 100% likely these users are honest.

The technology is not 100% foolproof, and not even 100% effective, there are false-positives as well as anonymous proxies allowed to search.

Now, with PTRs beginning blocking anoymous proxies, there are more chances that many innocent people will not be able to earn money this way due to false-positives

Try this and see what it tells you. It's a proxy checker.
