Ok, I just wanted to say that I have a friend who recently recieved a porn email while going through her email. Needless to say at the time she had her 6 year old son on her lap when she opened this email. How wrong is that??? I mean it's there some way we can stop porn from even being in our emails from our PTR companies. PORN IS OFFENSIVE TO ALOT OF PEOPLE!!! So, why do people insist on advertising it like it's a true-blue business? mad.gif Is there any morals in this day and age or is all about who we can sleep with and how long for and what positions and what not. It just makes me sick to my stomach that people would advertise sex just for the thrill of it when they know that there are moms and dads out there doing this as something to do or even as a business. Do people that advertise porn think that they might have small children at home sitting close by while their parents are on the computer reading these porn advertisements?

It is really pathetic that it's even in these emails. mad.gif If you didn't opt for these type of emails then YOU SHOULDN'T BE GETTING THEM AT ALL!!!

It just makes me sick! dry.gif

You cant blaim it totally on the industry you need to blaim it on the individuals who chose to SNEAK in links and CHANGE them after the webmaster has checked them, ya dont think we webmasters have children as well and like porn popping up when we check whats suppost to be a search portal?

I don't think any of the reputable WM's deliberately send out these adult links to members who have not opted in for them. Thing is, apparantly they pay very well so there will be some jerk who tries to sneak one in by changing the direction of the URL after the ad has been sent in. It is unfortunate if you have children around at the time though. But please don't blanket blame all of the WM's for something that isn't always in their control. I've been doing PTR for over a year and have yet to have that happen so it is a normal occurance I wouldn't think.

theres a pink floyd song out there that explains some of this.

The thing about porn advertising is that, just as in the PTR business, there are legitimate operators and then there are the ones that will do anything for a dollar.

Many porn operators are legitimate and, while you may not agree with their morality or anything else, they do operate according to their own code of ethics. They don't try to advertise to kids, or to those that aren't interested in porn, to those that find it offensive, etc. They want to sell porn to people who want it, and who are legally allowed to have it. Period.

But unfortunately there are companies that are just after the money -- and let's face it, there a LOT of money in the porn business. Some of these advertising and affiliate companies will pay, in many cases they pay WELL, for their porn ads to be shown to ANYONE, any way -- blind links, trick links, multiple popups, dialers...whatever it takes.

Sadly, this mentality seems to be growing in the PTR business as well...there seem to be more and more people, POs and members alike, who are just here to make some easy money...whatever it takes.

Cheers,

Wil

I understand what you are saying, but why do people have to sneaky and greedy.
Being that way, in my opinion is just down right pathetic!
tiblackwell
actually i don't blame the wm at all, i just wished he had checked his link first..but then i've been told that people can reroute the link after the ad is placed or whatever.

my thing is this...when i want porn i'll go buy or rent some.

until then...STAY OFF MY PC WHEN MY KID IS NEAR.

that is all.
freecashspace
I made myself walk away from the computer twice, telling myself not to post an answer to this completely rhetorical question...but I just can't help myself. wink.gif

Why do people have to be sneaky and greedy?

I think about this question a lot.

I've thought of a lot of possibilities....genetic predisposition...poor parenting...poor diet...lack of positive role-models....chemical imbalances...financial desperation...and the list goes on.

But I just keep coming back to one simple answer.

Why do people have to be sneaky and greedy?

Because quite often they are rewarded for it.

And to fit this into the original point of this thread...why is this kind of thing happening more in the GPTR industry...because this industry rewards people for being greedy, and its often quite easy to be sneaky.

And sadly, it is making this business a LOT less pleasant for those who are here to HONESTLY earn a bit of extra cash.

Cheers,

Unfortunately if u want a complete porn free zone u would have to stay off your computer...lol....as I mentioned in another thread you run the risk of seeing a porn site everytime you open a page on the web due to "individuals" who like to hack pages and reroute them (don't know the technical jargon) to porn sites....so that maybe one day a favourite site u have been going to for ages will suddenly take u to a porn site or u will get a porn pop up...I have had it happen to me on a couple of occasions....and yes it is sad and disgusting when people do this....If I want to look at porn I can find it on my own without any help from these "individuals"

Perhaps the OP of this thread wanted to create a new post to ensure her voice or opinion was noted. This is the same subject, but it is also illustrating her frustration. Perfectly valid post.

And honestly.. look at all the threads on Annies, Nile, BettyBucks, etc. Several posts on the same things going over the same issues. The reason people do that is so their voice is heard. If we were to stop all the duplicate posts, we'd probably have 25 posts in this forum with 250000000000 responses. It would be mass confusion. blink.gif

I emailed a link to a webmaster and they actually apologized for sending the link. They did not specify whether or not it had been changed, etc. The link also downloaded a Trojan virus on my pc.

Porn is not only offensive to many people, their popup h*** is so annoying and many of the links carry viruses.

For anyone who is interested there is a website that explains in Plain english how porn affects a majority of the population.

This is for those who are interested Only. Others need not visit or post about it.

This isn't really the right place to discuss the morality of porn -- I think there's a thread in the chit-chat folder for that -- so I won't take the bait.

But I will say that there are unscrupulous people in ALL industries -- including the GPT industry. Multiple-popups, trojans, viruses, browser hijacking are all too common.

ALL internet users should be doing everything they can to protect themselves. Personal firewalls, virus-protection, browser security, adware and spyware scanners are a MUST in this business.

MONEY!!
It pays well to advertise a porn site.
As angry as you might be, porn is a billion dollar industry.
Why?? because more people than you think are looking for that sort of thing.
I went to a porn site accidently today, and thank goodness, I got it closed before my kids noticed.
I would suggest getting a block or surfing without graphics.
This is actually the first time I ever surfed to a porn site doing something innocent.
LOL.. some of the research I do for school sends me to some shady sites sometimes, so I do that research when my kids aren't around.
You have to be realistic.. there is everything available on the net and there are people that will do whatever they can to cash in on it.
tiblackwell
shane once again you're missing the point.

i have no problem with porn for porn's sake.

who hasn't enjoyed a peek at someone's privates in their lifetime.

the problem is when it is slipped into a seemingly innocent referral link for a ptr site.

if you're going to surf for porn on the net, hopefully you'd have sense enough to do it when your kids aren't around.

when you are not able to control the flux of porn onto your pc you run the risk of exposing children to it. and i don't think a six year old has any business seeing that.

THAT is what the thread was about.

there is no reason to sneak it in, plenty of people will search it out for its own sake.

I agree.

I prefer to have the "Look at the Jugs on this hosehound" in the subject instead of the "NPA,NPA" lie.

As much as I appreciate the surprise I would be upset if my daughter saw it.
