Just need some opinions on FTP programs.
Easy to use interface but reliability and functionality is a MUST.
As much as I appreciate the new auto update feature for CC scripts, I just can't bring myself to upload what I am not seeing

I agree, I tried several but finally settled on WS_FTP, I find this the easiest to use.

I use FTP Commander - its a free download and you can find it if you search at www.winsite.com Loved AceFTP but it kept crashing on me for some reason. FTP Commander has the same sort of interface (doesn't look as flashy) and I find it really easy to use.

Just an FYI, Windows has a built-in FTP.
One of the PO's showed me how to use it, and it's amazingly easy, but now I don't remember how you access it.

This is the one I use too. I tried CoreFTP, but it was so SLOW!!
This one so far has been the easiest to use.

It's great for regular sites but does not permit you to see hidden files
The program I love is crystal ice...it allows you to see hidden files and change permissions(chmod)
lol took me a bit to figure out what chmod meant

I thought all FTP clients allow you to change permissions.
All the ones I have used have that ability.

FlashFxp. I used to be with BitTorrent, some program. And we used it to send... ehr... stuff from one FTP to another at unbelievable speeds. It resumes and it's one of the easiest progs I know. I use it daily.

I'd love to know that too. I've been using computers since 1986 and never seen that. Telnet, yes. FTP, no.

telnet yes, FTP yes.Go to start run
type cmd
in the command line type ftp and the site you want to ftp to
ie://
ftp www.domain.com
it will ask you for your user and pass.
You can do everything from there, has been built into window atleast since 95.
Not that easy to use, due to it being all command line, but since you have been using a computer since 1986 you shouldn't have a problem

Thanks for that one, never knew that. We learn something every day.

FlashFxp remains the program for me, though.
