Hi all

I'm from belgium (searchcountry) and i'm an active member (was).
but they don't allow the use of proxies anymore ohmy.gif

You must know 95% of belgium's internet connections is cable or adsl (isdn) both are proxies! sad.gif

If i want a static ip I need to get a business internet connection (+500?/month)
If i can pay that i don't need to click paid ads...

To me it's like a scam, if been working for over a year (doing searches..) and now they just exclude me mad.gif

And my most important Q is...
Will other gptr follow? unsure.gif
sophieca
Hyia,

I am from Belgium too and am on dynamic IP too but have no problem at Mikes, their tool detect the anonymous proxies and refuse them, not the ones from recognised providers utilising dynamic IPs.
It doesn't work like some search engines where the webmaster refuses all proxies without making a difference between anonymous ones and others normal ones !

If you go to your account and can click, you should be fine, no problem ..well, is what Trayse told me so I guess it's valid wink.gif

This tool helps you find out if you are ok : http://www.countrycheck.com/detectproxy.aspx
If like me you see this :
QUOTE
You are from BELGIUM!
213.xxx.xx.xx (with real figures and no x)
then you can continue using Mikes without problem.

Hope this helps wink.gif

Sophie

Hope Not !!!

I'm also on cable and i can't switch to static ips coz i only have one phone line.

Forgot to mention, this tool http://www.countrycheck.com/detectproxy.aspx works for all countries, not just Belgium wink.gif

Thanks Sophieca smile.gif

yup ... what sophie said. transparent proxies are fine. only anon proxies will be blocked. also, in the near future, you can expect alot of other programs to institute the same type of protection.
lmdavisng
Email Matters sent out an email this week and they are not allowing anon proxies either .

You have been detected as using a Proxy Server, as we do not allow proxy surfing your request has been cancelled.

If you are not behind a proxy please email the webmaster.

ERROR

See that is what I get when searching and I had my ip checked by the most experienced search engine webmasters who said I was ok, the tool and Mikes' site say am ok etc ... uhoh ..would love to email the webmaster of that search engine to explain him he makes his members lose on searches they should have but well without an emailaddy given .... I think I'll have to ask Mary and Sandra where they've put their crystal ball to be able to send my mail wink.gif

I am from the netherlands and have a static IP with versatel/KPN (ADSL). Does the problems in Belgium come from Belgacom?

Nono lol, I don't even have them as provider smile.gif

You know a lot of providers use proxies like we have here, it's very common .... therefore I think webmasters who check about proxies should, like they do at Mikes, know the basics about it and take into account that all proxies are not anonymous ones.

sophieca
Uhoh, yes I do use Telenet and have had my thing checked a lot of times ... never had a problem but with the ones confusing anonymous proxies and other proxies.

Sorry, I can't help you more because it makes no sense to me, you might ask in telenet's forums, they always helped me a lot there ...

I will try to send a few more techie ones to this thread if I can find them wink.gif

AH !

Seems someone should control some scripts here wink.gif

Have it too Bruffy :

We're sorry...

Uh-oh! It looks like you're using a Anonymous Proxy. We're sorry, but we don't allow the use of Anonymous Proxies when using our service, because if you do that, we can't be sure that our advertisers are getting what they've paid for.

Not sure what an Anonymous Proxy is? A great explanation can be found here:

What is an Anonymous Proxy?

If you think you've reached this message in error, please, feel free to send us an email and let us know. We're constantly trying to improve our service, and your input is valuable to us!

I certainly am not using a anonymous proxy ....

Yesterday I could click, now I can't anymore ... uhoh ... don't blame me for being a bad clicker laugh.gif
anneonline
OK, for Telenet users:

Go in your IExplorer settings (Internet-opties), click connections (verbindingen), then click LAN-settings (LAN-instellingen), then CHECK 'use automatic ... script'
(vakje voor 'automatisch configuratiescript gebruiken' aanklikken),

and then add in the open space: 'http://pac.telenet.be:8080'.

Please inform me if it is not working. I spoke to a Telenet technician two days ago, who was setting my internet cable connection (which will be working only on Monday for me, it all goes well) and he told me it should work fine this way.

I am able to access Mikes site without problems right now, although I am still using Tiscali, and I got sometimes blocked by some search engines as Tiscali IS using a transparent proxy. That's one of the reasons why I am changing ISP now (and also because of the lousy customer service).

sophieca
Hyia Anneonline,

Thanks for your help but it has been like that since forever in my settings wink.gif

Sophie
anneonline

But I do have an other problem with Mikes still:

I had to change my email addy, because I could not receive his 'paid and non-paid ads' emails anymore (I DID receive the search and admin emails though!!).
I used Hotmail first, so I thought that might be the problem.

Now I have changed my addy to one of another company, and now I discover that I am still not getting all the emails. I do get searches, admin, advertising specials, 5cent emails, but not the emails that are now called 'Paid mailings'.....

Weird.... S-)

OK thanks for informing me Sophie, I was going to ask you to check it anyway...

I will wait till Monday when I am finally going on Telenet ISP and see what happens then....

(I hope I haven't changed ISP for getting into even more trouble than before... although I am still not convinced that it is WE who should do all these changes to please those webmasters - in general, not only talking about Mikes now, especially as we are not doing anything wrong, we are no cheaters and we cannot be blamed for internet rules of our Belgian ISP's, or can we?)

Hyia wink.gif

The tool checking anonymous proxies was made to catch cheaters, not members like you and me using telenet, AOL or other providers using dynamic IPs.

The tool is rather new, I trust the script writer and the webmasters will fix it asap, I don't think they want to delete us all, the important thing is to keep them informed when there is a problem so they can act on it wink.gif

Hyia,

I talked to the scriptwiter and now I understand what happened smile.gif

As we have a dynamic IP, every time we open internet, we have a different IP, one of those IPs we use and coming from our provider was flagged as using some bad proxies on the 8th of december.

Bruffy must have surfed using that IP and was then told he couldn't use Mikes because the IP was flagged ... I didn't have any problem until I used that same IP, or another one being flagged then BANG, flagged too .....

Those IPs are checked regularly and scriptwirter told me he would make the check more often as the IP I used and which was flagged was not reported as bad anymore, so it has been changed and I can surf Mikes again.

Bruffy, if you still can't use Mike and think the same happened to both of us but maybe with a different IP, you should PM your username to Trayse who then can double check the IP that caused the blocking with the webmaster of the checking - tool.

The message blocking you at Mikes says this :

and if like us some members think they've been blocked by error, I think the best way is to contact the webmaster who will certainly help like it happened today.

Let me know if it works for you Bruffy, one thing is sure, I never clicked on so many links at Mikes before just because I kept on checking lol

Disclaimer : I am not techie at all, so if you want the real explanations, contact more clever people, I just explained in my words how I understood things, it might be not totally correct technically speaking wink.gif

Hi Everybody,

Ok so, I rechecked all your guy's IP addresses, and none of them are showing up as Anonymous Proxies anymore - they're all updated to say Belgium. So your clicking should continue uninterrupted.

It's possible that for a short time, your ISP had one of their proxies configured to show up as an Anonymous Proxy, and so it got flagged that way in the system..

The other thing is that my script caches IP addresses for a time period determined by the webmaster (that is, it saves results for an amount of time the PO chooses). Once that time period is elapsed, the result is deleted and a new lookup is performed. It's possible you were getting nailed on an old lookup that was no longer valid, but the cache hadn't reset yet.

I'm constantly trying to improve this script, so your input is extremely valuable to me - I'm looking into this now. I'll check the IP histories and find out exactly when your IP addresses were labeled anonymous, and when they went back to being normal Belgium again, and find out what happened in between..

At any rate you don't have to worry about this smile.gif Your surfing should work just fine for now.

By the way Bruffy, I'm still working on your script! Haven't forgotten about it - trying to get it done here..

Thanks, ML had fixed the Anonymous Proxy problem for me as I didn't understand it and I always need to understand what happens smile.gif

However, I guess it'll happen again to the ones having dynamic IPs once in a while, it might be good to tell webmasters using the tool that they should say in their message to the members being flagged that we can't click because we might be using an anonymous proxies and to please contact them so they can double check it.

Saying we use anonymous proxies when we don't is a bit .... hmmmm wink.gif

i *think* our members in belgium are taken care of.

anneonline, are you able to click links now? if not, would you pm your username? i don't know it offhand.then, i can look into it further. i also wanted to respond to your post about the email problems. i have no idea what is going on, and we're not the only site having this problem. it *seems* that many of the major email services have put some new type of spam protection in place. we have been trying to get some cooperation from hotmail & msn, but the only thing they have to say is "we're not bouncing your emails." well ... they obviously are or the emails would be getting through. they are also telling their customers that they are not bouncing emails. hrmph!

we have a member who owns a mail-server using this same type of spam protection. i'm in the process now of testing our emails through him. he said that this new software views each email and assigns 'spam points' based on certain unknown parameters and rejects them at the server level. so, they theoretically aren't being bounced. they are simply being discarded. i hope we can resolve the problem.

My username is annebusiness.... tongue.gif

I have always been able to click on your links or to access the site, and I am not using hotmail anymore for some days now...

At the moment I can't compare with your inbox to see whether I got all your emails from the last days, as the site seems to be down?? (or I can't access anymore since I changed ISP to Telenet, it's the first time I try accessing under this new ISP... ohmy.gif )

I'll check again tomorrow, as it is getting late here now.

Editing to add: I could access the site now: I still don't get the 'paid mailings' and 'untimed paid links' emails, but they are in my inbox on your site.

Might be that I need to change mailbox again... I found one that was designed especially for bulk mail from safelists and so on, so they won't bounce ptr emails I think and you can set the % at which they start deleting the emails so none would ever bounce. Unfortunately they don't have pop3 yet, so I would need to read online.
