I know little or nothing about how to build a website. I have one I am building on Tripod. I really like their sitebuilder. My question is this. I have quite a few programs were I can use banner advertising, but I don't know how to create the right link to give to the webmaster who is going to use my banner. As it is right now, the banners on my site are put is as pictures and then given a link code, so they go to the correct site when they are clicked. However, this doesn't not work when I am trying to use them for offsite advertising. I am asked for the banner url and the site url. I know that the site url is my referral link, but how do I obtain a site url the way I am doing my website.
Thanks everyone for your help

so do you know any html at all, well, heres one you can use:
<a href="http://the link of the site.com"><img border="0" src="link of where the picture is.gif" width="148" height="180"></a>
and remember, most free hosts don't allow hot linking.

devil666 - you're gonna love this....
I have a similar question or series of. and no I don't know html but you can believe that I'm gonna learn!
I created a site on Tripod as well to promote sign-ups to my programs and to generate paid searches.
THEN I went to addesign and created a free banner for my website.
1. they don't keep the img on their site except for 24 hrs. so using the html you provided Candy, where do I store it? Does it make sense to put a banner on my website FOR my website?
ps: if you can help me I'd appreciate it... I haven't signed up for TNT, Mike'sPaidMail, or any of the newest programs so I'd be glad to sign up for one under you in exchange for picking your brain!
TIA!

Most of the free websites will not allow remote linking of your images.
This means that you probably will not be able to upload the banner to your website, and then link to it when you promote your site from other sites.
It does cost bandwidth, so it will be difficult to find a free place to host your banner.
But I'm setting up a new hosting service (a partner and I have rented a server), and one of the things I'm going to offer is cheap banner hosting.
But then again, you may find a free place to host it. If you do, go for it!

Just a suggestion and I know it costs $$ at first but why not sign up for MoneyPumps (URL in my signature). You get FREE full featured hosting with CPanel. I joined and use it myself for my exit exchange program. You are also in the 2X12 matrix so you make $$ and have free hosting. Just a thought.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I finally got it to work. It was easier than I was making it out to be!
