For the CGI code, just a texteditor. I use UltraEdit (www.ultraedit.com).

To change the design, you can also use a texteditor or use a WYSIWYG (whatyouseeiswhatyouget) editor like Frontpage or Dreamweaver.

Try renaming a template file from the templates directory to .htm and then open it in such a program and when you're done, just rename it back to it's normal extension again.

I suggest Dreamweaver (do not use Frontpage as it will only optimize for MS IE)

To change code:
Use a text editor or use Dreamweaver as well.

Just for editing smartsearch scripts you don't need to buy a WYSIWYG editor like Dreamweaver or FrontPage.

Try NotePad, WordPad or even Microsoft Word.

But if you want a more features free text editor try Arachnophilia http://www.arachnoid.com/

i use this one it great and it's free Crimson Editor 3.60 Beta (Freeware)

you can edit just about any thing with it an dit does mess up the codeing bye adding exter junk to it
