CashInOnMail.com's host shuts them down and deletes the site and he asks us all to resign up. Why? Doesnt he make daily backups like the rest of us?

Sorry this scam will not get a signup from me. Infact I emailed him asking to restore from backup. If he cant I will be sending him a bill via Paypal for the paid emails I sent to my members.

Ok - I have to say that CashInOnMail is NOT a scam! Pete did his best to get the site up as fast as he could and WITH the members..but it was out of his control.

He posted messages trying to explain... http://www.ozconsortium.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=5

I am really not sure what happened to the member database, but I do know that Peter Noonan is an honest person who will pay everyone! Having some problems with his site doesn't make him a scam!

I was pretty shocked to hear the news this morning. It seems the domain DNS
settings haven't been updated yet, too. I can understand having some problems but I'm just kinda wondering why he never backed up his data, especially for something like this. As it is other programs are always mentioning the various problems they're having and that in itself should be a warning to people with programs such as these to try to prevent something like this because it could really tarnish their name even if they are a good honest person, and it can also get a lot of angry former members after their butts.

Hi,

It's Peter here. The guy who manages Cash In On Mail.

First up, thanks to Aloralyric for her support and kind words.

It has been a tough fortnight for me and Cash In On Mail. We have been locked in a batle with our former hosts to have our site and database returned. Unfortunately, they have done neither.

With help from various people we were able to relaunch yesterday. Relaunching without our member database was not something I wanted to do and doing so was only as a last resort.

Over the next week we will be sending out all of the Paid Emails from our advertisers who advertised in the last week before our problems arose to ensure that they get a fair deal.

We will also be sending out four 5 cent bonus links so that our members can recoup their earnings. Each member will earn more in the next week than they did in the fortnight during which we were operating.

These posts will go out until they have been seen by as many members as we previously had. This is all without us bringing in additional funds.

I would like to do something about the referral situation but unfortunately there is no way of verifying who had referred who. This is a sticking point for me and something I feel badly about.

I notice that I and Cash In On Mail have been called a scam. This is not so. I will accept that I was a fool to expect that I could rely on my host for backups. I have learnt from this mistake but unfortunately experience is a tough teacher as she generally teaches in retrospect.

If the previous host had not violated their own Terms of Service and had treated me and Cash In On Mail fairly, none of this would have been necessary.

An email I received from Viper today accused me of making a lot of money and keeping it for myself. This is not so, this whole affair has cost me time and money and has been very wearing. Thank goodness some members have been understanding.

I seem to have gone on for a bit there. I just felt I should take up the right of reply.

Now, on to better things!

Hi Peter. Welcome to our forum. It's nice to be able to get the owner/management's voice on things. I'm sorry to hear about all your troubles and about learning the hard way although sadly that usually is the way we tend to learn things. *pat*pat* I see your site is finally back up again and I wish you success with it this time around. Here's to your 2nd Chance <:

I have had a similar experience last year with a website, where the host had locked us out of our FTP site, denying us access to our database files. This was not a PTR site.

We had scripts that were taking up their servers resources, so they had stated that they would charge our credit card $500/hour for repairing the script. In the end, they shut us down, and there wasnt anything we could do. We did however point out the legalities of their actions, and they allowed us access to obtain our user files.

After everything that happened, we didnt get the company back online. In fact its for sale right now. You have shown courage in starting back up, I did not make that move, maybe in the future I will.

When you sign up for services, you expect your host to be professional. You are hosting a completely functional business. Some of these hosts dont realize that some of those sites they close down are effecting peoples livelyhoods, not to mention their clients. This makes webmasters look bad, these hosts should not be in business.

Maybe GetPaidForum can list unreputable hosts, just like they do for PTR's, that might save some other poor sucker from signing up to a bad hosting service.

I've talked to many webmasters, and I agree with Viper on many things, there are alot of people claiming database failure, and there are people running PTR sites that shouldnt. This looks bad for any legitamate future failure. However, I myself will promote CashInOnMail, and wish Peter luck with getting this all straightened out.
