Today after being away for some days, I couldn't log into my account at EmailtrafficKingdom, I talked with the owner, someone had changed the password, the e-mailaddress and ofcourse the password.
I just spent the last hours to change my passwords. They are all different now, since I don't got a clue who has done this, so in order to make it harder, I had to change them all.
I have some other problems at 2 other sites, perhaps this got nothing to do with it, got to wait a bit.
I am writing this down here, since I might not be the only one. I was very close to cashing out at ETK. Strange this was the only one, either this person is pretty stupid, since I had almost all my passwords the same and he or she could have taken over all my accounts, but that didn't happen. Anyway I just want to warn you all, don't make your passwords to easy. MIND YOU mine was NOT easy, I used to work in the computerbusiness and not just any, so I know which ones one should not use (and other things about computers...). So I was thinking, but I am not sure here, it's just a guess, either this person wrote a program (which isn't hard if you know how to do it) or it is one of the almost thousands (ex)gptr owners, some (perhaps all) can see members passwords. Anyway, use for every gptr program another password and don't make it to easy, like the name of the program or something with your address etc. I am not telling you that you should change them, but it feels pretty lousy if you are this close the cashout and can't log in anymore. All is good now, so I will get paid soon (thanks again Richard )
Have a nice day all,
Pos

don't know if this has anything to do w/ what happened to you.. BUT.. while clicking pages over at clickitycash.. i've seen quite a few account pages pop up for ETK... you know, the page that comes up when you log into your account and you can see how many refs you have and how much is in your account? that page.. i reported the ones i've seen to fred.. but they could have gotten in that way.. maybe?

Yes, they might have been able to, strange though I am not even a member of clicktyclash so what does my site do there in the first place????
I am just thinking about it, with the new *mec's* they don't need your password - once they are in - to change the password, but at ETK they do, so one way or the other my password must have been hacked:((
Thanks for letting me know cheese,

That happened to me at christmas, I found around 8 accounts unsubscribed. It was done by a CAC webmaster, and one who knew my passwords.

What makes you so sure it was a CAC owner? In other words how do you know, how did you find out?

I knew it was one of 2 CAC webmasters, because I had an account at their places, with a default password. I then had a public disagreement with these 2 webmasters, and when I had attempted to login to the sites in my database, 8 of them returned "email address not on file". I wrote to a few webmasters for support, and one told me I had actually unsubscribed. At the time I had nearly all my passwords changed, and those 8 I had forgot about, you know yourself how many ptrs we have to deal with.
The problem is, we never isolated who did the unsubscribing, and webmasters arent keen on giving up their website raw access logs, because they contain script paths, security information which you wouldnt want anyone getting hold of. So I couldnt get an IP, so there isnt any proof, and allegations/finger pointing can't be done.
After that, my passwords everywhere were changed, I made doubly sure, and since then I have been ok.
I dont make them complex but I log them in Microsoft Access, along with payout min, clickthru min, referral percentages, number of referrals etc. It isnt as updated as i'd like it to be, but it keeps me asking for payments regulary.
I've seen alot of stuff happen, sometimes you really need a strong stomache. I've had ebullion stolen in the past. You think it can't happen to you? I thought that, and it happened to me.

I still dont see how ETK's pages were showing up on clickity cash and allowing others to login to your account. Guess thats why I went with MEC's script.

I think all the paid site owner should change their scripts so that whenever someone's password is changed, he or she will receive an email. This should not be too hard to do.
