The webmistress of Partners in Emails has removed the signup bonus that was scheduled to run until August 31,2002. When doing so it caused everyone's sign up bonus to go away but she is working on crediting all members that signed up on august 31,2002 and prior with the bonus they earned. Also is putting people on inactive status if you do not log in in thirty days..
QUOTE
1. The sign up bonus was only until August 31, 2002. I have taken it down, but it seems to have taken it from everyone. I will be adding $2 to everyone\'s account that signed up as of August 31. You all should be showing correct earnings. Do not unsubscribe and then re-sign up. Then you will have no sign up bonus.
2. I am going to be setting members inactive. You must login to your accounts soon. If you don\'t login every 30 days, you will be inactive and will not receive any emails.
Sincerely,
Erica Nichols

I got over 100 emails today because their sign up bonus is missing...HELLO! I already sent an email about that! READ IT! This is what I pay you for!

How can I do this? Very easily. I just did. The site had been up for just over a month. If people really wanted to sign up, they would have already done so. Let me ask you something...where do you think the sign up bonus comes from? No, it doesn't grow on trees, at least not where I come from. I am going to have to pay about $6000 out of my pocket, and I don't mind. There were about 3000 members that had already signed up. So what did you expect me to do? Let the site get to 10,000 members and have to pay $20,000 out of my pocket...I don't think so. I am not planning to close the site ever. Would you rather have a site that you get paid from, or one that offers ridiculous earnings and then cannot pay members?

I am not going to cheat anyone. I feel that I have made responsible decisions from the beginning. I have had a lot of help from of group of mine, and if you all are reading this...I LOVE YOU!!! THANKS A BUNCH!!! I planned this site out over a course of 3-4 months. This was not an overnight decision. And I didn't start it with the intent to get rich quick either.

I agree with her. Think about it. Stores have grand opening sales. They run the sales as "one day only" or "one week only" as a way to get people in EARLY. It's the same thing. You don't tell Wal-Mart, "this item was on sale last week, but I couldn't afford it. I want it at the sale price now". They won't hear it. They'll tell you tough, it's not on sale now. But you keep shopping at Wal-Mart, don't you? It's the same thing. She ran the sign up bonus as a way to get people in early. If they didn't want to sign up early, that's their problem. They had a month.
She is giving everyone back their money if they had already signed up, so if you were already a member, you're getting to keep your money. She's not cheating anyone.
By the way, I am not a webmaster and Erica didn't have anything to do with my post. Don't hold it against her if you don't like my attitude. I'm just sick and tired of all these people getting on the webmasters cases about every little thing. How about all of you run a site of your own, and see if you can keep everybody happy all the time. I work in a grocery store, I know that some people are not going to be happy no matter what you do. Some people just gotta have something to complain about.

No problem. Gives me a chance to rant and rave. I can't vent about the idiots that come through at work, because I'd get fired for telling someone off. But, who's gonna fire me on here? So on here, when someone acts like a jack__, I can call 'em on it.

I'd like to see the looks on a few faces if they copped some of the email that us webmasters get. Expectations of webmasters has risen from what it used to be last year, one reason why i'm getting out and having someone else deal with my sites, you're expected to be in your chair 24/7 and if you're not answering soon enough, you have your own virtual firing squad after you.

Well then, I say fire away! I've got my own army. I can take them out! No, just kidding!

Although, the few that are emailing me telling me what date they signed up is getting kind of annoying.

I wouldn't last 5 minutes as a webmistress. I wouldn't tell anybody off, but I also wouldn't sit by my computer 24/7 just to make everybody happy. They have lives, why shouldn't I have one? I wouldn't be able to answer emails fast enough.
I think I read in an article somewhere that business emails should be answered within 24 hours, while personal emails should be answered in like 2 days or something. I can't remember. Although, I do remember that even big businesses aren't required to answer as soon as the email is received. For some reason, people expect more out of small businesses than they do big ones. If they sent an email to Wal-Mart or something, they'd give it a couple of days. But, if they send an email to a webmaster of a GPTR, they expect an answer instantly. It's crazy. I don't know how you all put up with it without going crazy.

If I run with the loot, i'll feel very guilty. No, I am staying to pay

but thats my only task apart from maintaining the sites.
Eln - you need a strong stomache sometimes, especially if you're making a change someone isnt going to like, you'll figure that out in time

the amount of mobbings i've seen in here, unbelieveable.
I used to be in front of my screen 24/7 but I am spending less time at the computer now, you can expect a reply within 7-14 days. Cynthia responds very quick though. With 30,000 people to deal with, then all the regular advertisers, its alot to keep up.

I think 1-2 days response is fair (and certainly better than average). I would try to respond in 24 hours if someone is paying you money for an order though since they might change their mind if you don't respond fast enough.

No, you have it all wrong. Whether a member is emailing because a link didn't work or wants to buy $100 of advertising they are both of equal importance. I try to answer ALL emails within 24 hours.
