Hi All,

Is it normal practise for a paid email program webmaster to ask for your username and password for a site that you have signed up for as a paid sign up?

I have received the following email:

Hi

Your account is curently suspended due to the following reason

A query has arrived regarding your membership and claim for payment of *** site

To sort this out i will need to login to your *** site account to confirm your membership

Once this has been done I will reactivate your membership

Sorry to have to do this but we like to protect our advertisers from members who signup and claim payment then remove themselves from the programs

I am not saying that this is what has happened in your case and look forward to correcting this

If you could send me your user and password for this program and all is in order then I would be happy to reactivate you

Regards

I think it's unnormal. WM never asked me for my login details smile.gif

Well I know webmasters normally have to confirm your paid signups. Glad they do as I have 2 people out of 10 signup for one of mine. 10 people claiming they joined..and only 2 have.

From my knowledge they do this by contacting the other webmaster and asking them if you are a member. If this is the case, possible they would need your username. Normally though when you sign up for paid signups you have to use the same email address you used to signup with the program you are signing up with. So, they can confirm by the email address.

It seems kind of fishy to me why the webmaster would want your password. I would write and ask them if there is not another way of doing this as you don't feel comfortable having someone go into your account. Be nice about it...it just seems really wierd to me.

Good Luck and I hope you get it straightened out.

I would not give out my pw to ANYONE, that wm has no business asking you for your pw for another program. All the wm has to do is verify that you have an account at that other program with the wm of that program. I'm curious to know who the wm is that asked you for your pw? If you don't mind, could you please pm me?
