Not only did this guy affect Chris but he has also affected the host and all our sites

it's not johns fault thou, I think he's trying to prevent the guy from sending anymore and trying to hack anymore sites, which , I think is smart.. stop it dead in tracks and get to the root...but the downfall is that we have to suffer along with chris but good news if you like the orginal buttons i put for you , I can do that now..I have the unlimited rights to put them up

Just got this from TNT...

We have been contacted by Chris, owner of EzPay regarding the problems that have
occured this morning.

Many of you who are members of EzPayByEmail will this morning have received an
email which appears to

have come from Rewards@ezpaybyemail.com and contains swearing and pornographic
content.

In fact this has not been sent by the owner.

EzPayByEmail has been maliciously hacked and these 2 emails have been sent out
by the hacker.

The hacker has also bombarded Chris's inbox with over 600 spam and threatening
emails so you can imagine the work Chris has now got to do regards the problem.

Chris apologises to all members and asks them to please delete the offending
emails.

He also asks for understanding and members please do not cancel your membership
over this.

Please also do not contact Chris over this as your email will probably get lost
in all the spam he is receiving.

He is working dilligently to find the person responsible and will I'm sure let
us have news when he gets it.

Also any other program owners that read this - please cut and paste this if
possible and let your membership know.

Why can the hacker sent out the mail? I wonder where is the fault. The CAC script? The modified email.cgi by John? Or the security problem of myecom.

I heard it was the cac script,oops if i tell ya than you will know.(a frank told me what people can access on the scripts).but who knows you cant win for losing can we uughhhhhhhhh...still I think people should go about there business instead of ruining what people try to do for others.. thats just immaturity.. pieces of C&(*&, that need to get a life

This situation is very irritating and upsetting.
I feel very bad for Chris. He is a very honest and nice person, and it's awful that something like this had to happen to him.

I dont know about you guys, but I took my admin files dowhn, until I need them.

My actual site is at MyECom, but my mailer goes through a different server.
But one of the really annoying things is that I am so busy rebuilding my site and I'm right in the middle of it. Now I can't continue until they put the sites back up and who knows when that will be.
Even worse is that I have a referral contest going and some of my members are paying to run ads. Their ads are going to be totally wasted.

Just wanted to send out an update, John (myecom) has a suspect IP from the logs and he is checking it out right now, I should have some more info soon.

I also got both the bogus mailings. I saw the message subject lines, and immediately thought it was a virus, trying to mail itself out with fake subject lines. My email host uses McAfee to scan all emails for viruses, and I have 2 other anti-virus programs running on my computer. I decided to open the letters, and see what they said, but not open any attachments.

When I saw the messages, I immediately realized EZPay had been hacked. I thought to reply to them, or just email Chris, in case he didn't know about it yet. Then I thought the hacker might have re-routed any complaints to a place where he could get their addys, and harrass them more. It also occurred to me, they might just get sent to email oblivion, or deleted as soon as they came in, so I decided to come check here about any info. I didn't click on any of the links in the email, in case they led to sites that tried to plant viruses. It never hurts to be careful about that sort of thing.

This is the only time I've ever seen a blatantly obvious hack before. Usually, the company owners will just mention they've been hacked, and such-and-such was done, or affected. I'm far from a prude, and not easily offended by most things, but comments about child porn are way over the line. It was the most offensive email I've ever seen. Whoever wrote it needs psychiatric help.
